I think this matchup to me is the most clear of these first three.

For the Hawks my main beef would be regarding Zion's fit next to Jokic. Outisde of gambling on deflections he is a pretty bad defender but he isnt really an off ball player on offense either. I would have loved a writeup here again. Hopefully we get more of those in later rounds. Maybe the pics of him getting skinnier are a sign that he may elevate his defense next season? But other than that the Hawks team have the best player in the world, a great PnR guard who can run with him and two awesome 3&D guys who will be absolutely tormenting the backcourt of the Jazz.

I love the fact that Lauri and George ended up on Jazz also in this excercise, but I'm not high on Cade/George PG combo for this level of competition. Jazz have guys who could exploit Hawks weaknesses in interior defense as they dont really have a rim protector, but I dont think their spacing is good enough to allow for that. However they have a lot of guys who could be projected to make a leap next year.

However that all being said, I think the talent gap is just too massive here in favor of the Hawks.

Zion is a fine defender. I know he isnt elite or maybe even positive, but he's not bad. If him and Jonas V can fit together and be a positive +4.4 per 100 as a pair, him and Jokic would fit amazingly. Zion has never actually played with a high level creator like Jokic. I'm sure he would be fine being off ball now and then. Plus Lively is on the bench, the kind of center Zion has played with his entire career.

So, who is playing on a 10-day while Zion is injured. Or are we just assuming he is out the entire season for this thing?

I'm going with the hawks mostly because of jokic

I hope your team gets votes just because you found a way to properly use the word “poppycock” on Jazzfanz.

And also because your team is pretty good, but mostly for the poppycock.

I'm not sure I love Jokic/Zion, I'm still trying to picture how that would work. It could be really good though. Zion and Kyrie are the obvious weak links on defense, but the other three are so good, I think they would be fine.

You are going to sit Jokic for stretches just so Zion has a center he can play with?
