2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Here are the contract numbers for some of the guys being discussed - This Year, Future Years
Cam Johnson - 23.6, 21.6, 23.6
DFS - 14.9, PO 15.4
Shroder - 13, UFA
Lavine - 43, 46, PO 49
Patrick Williams - 18, 18, 18, PO 18
Vucevic - 20, 21
Collins - 26.6, PO 26.6
Sexton - 18.4, 19.2
Clarkson - 14, 14.3
DFS is the one that stands out to me. I think they fumbled the bag not re-routing him immediately. Likely land a first for him. Now I think he gets the multiple seconds type treatment.

The thing Sexton has going for him currently is he's one of the best mid-volume 3pt shooters and he's under contract for another season at a good price. You also know he can do what he does without needing as many shots as Cam.

Cam Thomas is going to be a RFA at the end of teh year. I doubt he gets paid all that much, so maybe someone will view that as a positive, but it will still be a bit of a headache in terms of contract negotiations in 2025.
Its not a direct comparison per se. Its "we have a budget of x and need 2-3 things... should we spend that entire budget on 1 thing?" type of question. Why buy the Mercedes when we think we can sneak buy getting a used Camry and then we can also get the house painted type of thing. Schroeder would be free. Not sure on the price for Cam Thomas but the Nets should be more desperate to sell than us. Unless DA wants to sell a Mercedes for the price of a used Camry he may be out of luck.

I can't believe some people are implying that the current Sexton is or should be as valuable as prime Rozier. Or something.

I'm not crazy about the 6'1'' SG archetype (to say the least), but the fact is that Rozier has always been the better, more respected NBA player. He plays much more under control, is a better defender and has performed very well on a big stage.

Sexton is more of a Honda Civic.

I think Sexton would bring back a FRP and a mildly interesting player. He's kind of like Dennis Schroeder a few years back when people thought he was good and he mistakenly turned down a $70M contract extension (from the Lakers?). Like the OKC version of Dennis Schroeder.

From 2019: The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Dennis Schröder from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Danny Green and the draft rights to Jaden McDaniels, it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka.

Does it seem like Clarkson has passed his Sell By date?
Yes I believe so. His shot appears gone at this point. Should've dealt him 2 years ago if they wanted some sort of asset for him.

They might have a better chance to offload him next summer when he technically becomes an expiring contract?

Id pay that price.
As DA or in general?

My pre-requisite for getting Zion is that we also get Harper. Our backcourt needs a massive quality boost and I'm not building up by adding a high level front court player until I have someone who can bring up the ball and initiate some offense without turning it over or shooting a brick every other time.

If we get Zion I would not want Harper. I would want to go get someone like DeAaron Fox.
