Who would you rather at SG.....Sexton or George??

Lets say for arguments sake that the Jazz don't view Keyonte as the long term solution at PG and prefer to play him as SG. Lets say they went after Dylan Harper as PG of the future.....who would you rather have starting and logging the most minutes as SG beside him? Personally my preference is for Collin. Better shooter, better ball handler, better penetrator and better defense than KG. I think his overall attitude is far superior to KG's as well. Collin has that X-factor about him as well.....capable of exploding at any given time. If the Jazz were to be looking to the future this way, l would much prefer they traded KG than Collin and started him at SG beside whomever they drafted as a PG. Curious to hear all your views on this.

At this point my preference would be neither.

If I absolutely had to choose between the two, I would do it as late as possible. The sample size on Key is still fairly small, and some of his problems seem immaturity related. When he doesnt get into his head and plays hard on both ends he looks like he will may end up being better of those two. Collin can explode and beat guys better than Key does, but his defensive IQ is off the charts (in the wrong direction) and his offensive tunnel vision symptoms get very severe at times.

I read an article yesterday that claimed if we drafted Harper there would be an immediate trade request, so I doubt that's a possibility of that exact scenario but I get the question. Personally, I like Sexton's attitude better but I'm not sure he ever improves his decision making. My hope is Key gets better as he matures.

Between the two I take Sexton. He has more tools and the better attitude. Maybe I'm just turned off by Key's awful shooting nights and bad body language, which the latter can be chalked up to immaturity.

With that said I don't think either of our future starting backcourt is on the roster yet. Maybe Harper gets drafted but the comments by his Dad regarding Utah are a little worrisome. Jazz need so much talent. Keyonte is still young enough to be the 6th man when this team is finally ready to start winning again. I'm guessing Collin will already be on another team by that point.

I want a shooting guard who can defend and who can shoot. Keyonte doesnt do either of those well. Nor does he handle the ball and make decisions that you need in a PG.

First the hypotheses is we draft Harper. I would prefer a shooter next to Harper as he prefers to attack the basket. With that said I would prefer Kasparas to Harper if you are looking for a PG to run the team. Better passer in my mind. If that is the case I think Gearge would be a better fit as a scorer. Sexton wod be an amazing spark plug off the bench.

In an ideal world i think both could make the team. I see no reason to have to make the decision now.

The biggest issue is Sexton is only under contract for 1 more year and is going to want a substantial pay raise.

It just comes down to age and contract. Sexton has less team control and is older.
Team control doesn't matter when you are not a NBA player and the team simply doesn't want you. Key's days in the league are numbered unless he drastically improve before we draft someone to take his place and start caring about winning.

Keys shooting split is comparable and even worse than the likes of Marcus Smart/Dillon Brooks/Pat Beverley, guys that made a name for themselves as defenders.

He's without question a NBA player.

I think it is a bit premature to compare the shooting splits of a player in a very beginning of the his second year with the veterans. It is a bit premature to think that Keyonte is a finished product and could not markedly improve his shooting splits in the future. Wait at least until the end of this season.

After all, Keyonte has been clearly improving his shooting efficiency throughout this season after a pretty horrendous start.

If Keyonte is still shooting these same splits in the 2nd half of the season I will officially be concerned. To me he has shown growth and is getting better. So far in December he's shooting 51% from the field without the 3 ball dropping. Improvement.

He will also get better, along with everyone else on the team, when the Jazz get a true #1 option.
