What's new

I want the Jazz to lose.

Professional basketball is meaningless at its very core. How is winning the championship changes any live in a meaningful way? You just arbitrarily assign great value to it, that's all.
You clearly are not a fan. Fan is short for fanatic. We care about our team you clearly don’t.
However, trying to win every game does have deep meaning: always trying to do your best, giving it all, coming together as a group, constantly striving to improve and correct your mistakes from the previous game.. Trying to lose on purpose opens the door for a whole set of exciting possibilities. If the games are meaningful why should you get out of bed on the road and go to the practice and then play? Let just sleep in late, then go to a party and let the 2-way people to do the meaningful game! Or, even better, let’s gamble as a team on the exact result for a meaningful game and then deliver it! The NBA is quickly becoming another professional wrestling.
Tell me why the Jazz bed off with a bunch of decent players, or a bunch of decent players and a star. Best chance for the Jazz to get a star is the draft. Chemistry means nothing if you don’t get talent to help you win.

If titles and greatness were my primary concern, I'd have become a Lakers fan when I was 11 instead of a Jazz fan.

Even better, I wouldn't be a fan on any team per se. I'd just cheer for whoever's that year's Vegas favourite.
Then what’s the point of any of it. You’re not a fan

You got your wish!

today was great. I'm feeling so much better than at the start of the season and so much more optimistic about the result of this season.

Sometimes reality sucks but i wish you well, i dare say you'll be back when the Jazz are really good for a decade as a result of this season.

OK, so tell me what or who do you care about? The Jazz uniforms that are changed every year? Ryan Smith? Because many fans on this board certainly don't care about the players currently playing for their team.

I would say that would make them not fans of the team.

Tanking sucks partly so much because the league wants to pretend by telling "we are monitoring things" but are not actually doing it. Either let them tank and be very open about it or start fining teams/taking away their lottery balls, if the purposeful procedure of sitting out players becomes quite obvious.

I want all of our players to be successful
So do I. That's why I want Lauri, Sexton and Collins to play and not sit out with mysterious injuries or be shipped out for picks. The success and development of Jazz players and the total, efficient tank are intrinsically at odds with each other.

Fantastic night tonight. I enjoyed watching Hardy masterclass the lineups in the 3rd quarter and get a BIG game back in hand. It was nice to watch the tank.

Speaking of honesty... the Jazz haven't honestly had a chance at a title for most of my life. I honestly want to see them win a title before I die. It is time to shift because the biz as usual hasn't worked.

Lauri, Sexton, and Collins are all very successful. Getting into the NBA is hard. Getting huge multi million dollar contacts is quite successful imo.

We have to lose, no choice, 2 years too late but still, not much choice.
For the rest , yes the NBA is a big show where money come first and to manage this business, ability to lie is mandatory. Every year, Silver lie to the fans about how they control that teams are not tanking but they do nothing. Teams sitting non injured players is common. I feel somewhere sad when i see a kid traveling 500 miles to see his idol (the one he put poster in his room...) and seeing him out for fake reasons... this is NBA.

^ And bc it's the NBA I try to remember it's more for entertainment than anything else. If I want to watch serious basketball I'm tuning for euro hoops or international games in Olympics, euros and world champs. Or NBA playoffs.

As people, as basketball players, yes.

As NBA players... Lauri and Collin have never played in a playoff game. If Collin is not traded, he'll probably soon be #2 on the active players list with most games without any playoff games (Lauri obvs being #1).

Ah and you think that if the jazz tried to win all the games this season then these players would have playoff success.
I see why you are confused now.
Those players have been on non tanking teams in the past and had the same amount of playoff success as they are going to have on this tanking team.

Not tanking doesn't equal playoff success.
