Game Thread Feb 10, 2025 08:30PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers

Added to Calendar: 02-10-25

Both. Either or. Who has the best matchup. Who has had the better game so far that game.
All things being equal. I want LeBron with the ball at the end. Luka just gives him a great option to go to

Yeah so I'd have ball in LBJs hand and have Luka coming off an action to get open, if he cant get open LJB can always get to the rim. That said is Luka a catch and shoot shooter or does he need it in his hand?

Lauri is a 3rd starter. Walker is a 4th or 5th starter. Collier is okay to start too. Keyonte is giving off 6th man vibes. The Jazz don't have their top-2, franchise-shaping guys.
I think hes a very good #2. He just need the right running mate and he need to be healthy. We will never really know the real ceiling of this team unless we get the #1 guy.

I would be so pissed as a Mavs fan that my team didnt push for Reaves in the deal. If the goal of the deal was to win now around AD/Kyrie, I would take Reaves over the pick.

Honestly, Austin Reaves might be a Utah target when he becomes a UFA. Lakers will have Luka on a huge max and they will probably go out and get another star between now and when Reaves contract expires. Would be the kind of player Utah can get by overpaying. The guy who isnt a perennial all-star, but is right on the cusp and could possibly be if he's on the right team.

There's something going on with Brice rn. He's pouting and not playing hard. He needs to be careful here, or the Jazz will drop him like they did Ochai.
Hopefully they can flip him for some 2nds in the off-season. He's the definition of a marginal NBA player. He certainly has some NBA level skills, but he just doesnt offer much outside of the shooting. Maybe he figures it out, and I could see someone wanting to give him a try, but with more young players coming in, I dont see him being a priority for Utah's development.

Gabe Vincent returning to his Miami days level of play and Vanderbilt looking like a live body are huge developments for LAL. I might have underestimated them a bit. Just a damn shame (for them) they couldn't find a deal for a starting level center.

If Luka doesn’t have the ball, he’s not being utilized to his full potential. Same with Lebron. And probably Reaves to an extent as well

There's more than a touch of Elvis Harden about him but he's got plenty of time to play his way back into shape. I doubt his body type lends itself to being super trim but his game doesn't either. He'll be fine.
Ehh. The amount and type of food he has to eat with that frame and being a professional athlete to be in this kind of shape I’m sure would blow my mind.

Right now, it looks like the Mavs might’ve known what they were doing. He looks like absolute ****.

Whos career will you take in 5 years?

Easily the worst game of the year. Nobody looked good and really showed how far we are from really competing. I don't even know how you can fix this honestly. We traded for John Collins for no reason. We signed Lauri for no reason. We extended Clarkson for no reason..... and for what? To slow devopment of young players and screw us from getting higher picks? Makes no sense

Jazz are essentially in a tie for 2nd worst record and we are somehow screwed from getting higher picks?

You are such a ****** poster because of this kind of nonsensical talk. It's one thing to be pessimistic, but at least have consistent pessimism that is based in facts.

Next year Clarkson/Sexton/Collins amount to 50+ million in expiring contracts. Stop being such a ****ing doomer.

Serious question: What are we going to do with these expiring contracts? Seems like expiring contracts are more of an asset to teams that are one or two trades (for good players) away from being a contender.

Everything is based on luck at teh end of the day. You luck out and get Flagg and you can add a star quite easily to go with Lauri/Walker/Cooper.

Or if the Jazz want to go the tank longer route, they can take back a bad contract and get more assets.

With what assets, lol.

Our picks other than the 2031 Suns and MAYBE the 2029 Cavs just kind of suck if we get Flagg (because then our future picks have little to no value). Our young players other than Kessler have really minimal value as well. Everyone other than Hendricks projects as a bench player or out of the league and Hendricks has a broken leg.

"Do you want one billion marginal assets for your star" is just a weird pitch.
