What an absolute horror. This isn’t “deportation,” it’s human trafficking. Our country is rounding up undesirables and condemning them to a life in hell.

Because 35 percent of the country is in a cult and gets their information from Fox News and twitter. You’d never even know this was happening if you relied on those garbage resources for your news. And sadly that 35 percent are the richest and most extreme Americans in this country. They control all levels of government because the other 65 percent either didn’t vote or was put off by brown happy lady for not being perfect.
They tried doing something similar here but not as bad or clearly targeted. Border Force and VicPol were stopping people (brown people) outside the central station in Melbourne and demanding papers within a couple of hours 5000 people were there protesting by the end of the day it was over 10,000 people. The operation ceased as soon as protesters arrived because the state government removed VicPol support (essential for security and I would think jurisdiction) but it never should have happened in the first place.

The country decided last November it didn’t want democracy. It wanted a dictator and cheaper eggs. Americans voted for this.

Protesting won’t do anything. Protesting is the pixie sticks of nutrition. It feels good but it doesn’t do anything. If Americans want to restore their democracy they need to:
1. Actually get off their asses and vote. And vote for Democrats. They’re the only viable party that can obstruct fascism. And they must vote for the Democrat even if that candidate isn’t perfect. Always remember, the alternative is a fascist. Or at least will placate to fascists.
2. Actually get organized. That means from the smallest town to the largest city. That means setting up a media infrastructure that can compete with Fox News and dudebro podcasts. That means building a federalist society like program that can start pumping out liberal lawyers and judges. These guys provide you with a backbone to protect democracy even when elections are lost since lawyers and judges remain in the system.
3. Campaign against billionaires and corruption. Focus on class, not race. This unfortunately might take a while since the old guard just doesn’t take this stuff seriously. They still think they’re dealing with the party of Reagan and not the party of Orban/Trump’s fascism. AOC gets it while the old farts don’t.
Above all, voters must vote and vote Democrstic. Pissing votes away in third party candidates or staying home because the brown lady laughed weird or Hillary was mean is what has enabled Trump to win 2 out of the last 3 elections.

Yeah, I don’t think these solutions are really grappling with the reality of what we’re seeing here. How is “just vote blue” a solution when we’re seeing democrats continue to vote to confirm Trump nominees? Putting our faith in a party to not placate fascists seems ill advised since that’s what they’re effectively doing right now.
And honestly, do we have four years? I don’t want to sound alarmist (probably too late for that), but the speed with which **** has already gotten out of control, makes me doubtful.

If there were actually no due process then I would be against it just I was against when the Feds arrested, didn't charge, and held a number of January 6 protesters without bail for years. That said, I don't think a lack of due process is taking place with Rumeysa Ozturk as she has legal representation and a judge made a preliminary ruling. Taking a suspect into custody before being arrested and charged isn't a violation of human rights. I think you are getting too much of your information from people on the internet telling you what you want to hear.

There is a very good chance this will all lead to civil war. It will likely take a real uprising to combat what's happening right now. Are the lazy Americans up to that? Not sure. It's a boiling the frog scenario. Will we recognize the hot water before we are cooked?

I get the frustration at the Democratic party. But they dont control any levers of government. They can’t do anything other than message/stir anger/bring attention to issues. Which is what they should be doing but the old farts, like Schumer, can’t even do that right. Part of it stems from democratic voters being so picky. Do they want the perfect party and candidate or do they want to win? Do they want the perfect policy or do they want power? Democratic leaders may not be perfect but at least they aren’t ordering college kids to be deported, threatening law firms, or texting war plans to journalists.
Protesting does nothing. It changes absolutely nothing. In fact, Trump would welcome it so it would give his brown shirts more people to arrest and deport and his base some red meat seeing a bunch of men, women, minorities, etc beaten the **** out of by his law enforcement.
The only way out of this hole is to overwhelmingly vote blue in the midterms and then (hope) the levers of control aren’t so rotted out that you can vote him out in 2028. It’s why this last election was so important. Democracy was on the line, a fact that many of us took seriously. But unfortunately, a lot of people convinced themselves that egg prices and Harris being imperfect meant staying at home, voting third party, or re-electing an aspiring autocrat. Many Americans decided that a few more months of higher than ideal inflation to protect democracy from an authoritarian takeover wasn’t worth it. While many on the right don’t care what the sacrifice will be, they want an authoritarian takeover.
You’ll never beat an opponent who cares more, is better organized, and better funded. Time for Democrats/democrats to start caring, get organized, and fight for democracy (even if the Democrats aren’t perfect or their candidates (insert silly critique here)). Remember the tea party circa 2009-2010? That’s what we need here. The midterms must swing blue in a complete rebuke of Trump and Trumpism. If it can’t (either because of voters’ apathy or because Trump has consolidated power) then really there’s not much we can do for a generation. Hungary and Russia are the way they are because losing democracy is easy, re-establishing it is hard.
