Following Potential 2026 Draftees

It's a bit too early for me to get into the 2026 class. I want to see how the team looks this season before I start diving deep into the next class. Who knows, we might not have a first this year.

My daughter sees the BYU basketball team every day with her job. She says AJ might be her favorite because he is funny and really outgoing, I don't think she really knows how big of a deal he is, which also speaks to his character.
Ya by all accounts, everyone is gonna love him.
I still can't believe what is happening at BYU this season. Feels like a dream. They are loaded. Starting lineup is amazing and they have great depth. Anything less than sweet 16 will be a big disappointment and honestly even anything less than final 4 will feel like an unsuccessful season.
AJ is gonna be a legendary superstar at BYU. I never thought anyone could surpass the stardom of jimmer at BYU but now I think he will be moved down to 2nd in BYU lore

What? Wait? Danny Ainge is not the most beloved BYU player ever?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

BYU is currently ranked 6 by ESPN in the preseason rankings. Sounds about right to me.

This is actually a good primer to catch up on all the movement in the NCAA:

Nope. Jimmer and its not even close. Jimmer took the country by storm and was a household name. Plus was the college player of the year. Add to that, he was doing crazy stuff like drilling 3's from nearly half court on the regular and dropping 50 points and schooling kahwi Leonard etc.
He was a phenomenon.
Not even sure AJ can overcome Jimmer. Especially since he will almost certainly only play 1 season. Gonna need to lead BYU to a final 4 to do it probably.

I mean we may be pretty young to recall Danny Ainge, but he was also NCAA Basketball player of the year. He was also a high school all-american in football, baseball, and basketball. He was literally playing for the Toronto Blue Jays while enrolled at BYU and the Celtics had to buy out his baseball contract after they drafted him. I wasn't there, but I'm willing to bet that Ainge was a pretty big deal when he played and was also a national household name, especially after the last second coast to coast drive to beat Notre Dame to advance to the elite 8. It is probably one of the more iconic tournament highlights of all time, not just because it was awesome, but because it was him who did it.

Jimmermania was pretty great too.

Ya I guess it's just not a fair comparison due to the difference in media availability.
Ainge didn't have Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, tik Tok and 24 hour coverage all over the world.

Cashiggy has some high school film of Darryn Peterson right now if anyone is interested. I couldn't get through much of it.

I'm really looking forward to the college season starting so I have a better idea of what I'm looking at.

I don't have any strong opinions right now. I'm too unfamiliar with high school film to know what good looks like.

- When I've watched Peterson in full games he has missed a lot of shots and taken a lot of possessions off on defense. I don't see how scouts are ranking him above other guys that have looked a lot better than him, but I've only seen a fraction of his games and again, I'm not sure what I'm really looking at with high school ball.
- Boozer looks incredibly skilled for his size, it really stands out. He also is a little slow footed, even at the high school level. I'm concerned about his ability to play high level defense.
- A.J. is all around good, but the biggest thing is he didn't really improve a lot this year. I watched him in the NIke Hoops summit last year and this year, and they were about the same. Development isn't linear though, so maybe he's due to break through a wall.
- Tounde is the guy I hadn't heard of until the McDonald's game that really excites me. From the limited games I've seen from him, I would think he would be ranked with the other guys.

Again, I'm excited for the NCAA season to get started so I can actually form some real opinions on these guys.
