I don't think most people are too concerned about the Jazz being too good, but let's just pretend. The Jazz are projected to win 18 games, so let's just say they win 30+, what do you think is the most likely reason.

(We're almost there, so just one more off season poll to pass the time)

Lauri plays like an all star again and key has the jump I'm expecting him to have plus good health

Chose other, but closest to Hardy is COY. I'm thinking it would be because Hardy proves he can coach defense and bring the young guys along on that side of the ball.

Not too worried about Hardy being able to get a functional offense.

The Jazz's defense has been bottom of the league for the last 2 years. This is how they've been able to lose games despite the offensive talent they've had. However, the Jazz no longer have John Collins at the 5. They no longer have Jordan Clarkson and Collin Sexton on the perimeter. It's possible that the Jazz's defense will improve due to Ace's length, Cody's development and Taylor's return to the lineup. Brice and Keyonte might merely be bad instead of awful.

If the Jazz are better than expected, it will be because their defense moves up closer to league average, maybe they're 20th instead of 30th. They're still really young on the whole though, so I wouldn't expect it.

I think improved defense could be because of a variety of things. The biggest one for me is having 48 real center minutes. The other possibility would be because of removing Sexton/Clarkson/Collins from the rotation.

We have almost zero perimeter defenders on this team, and so it would be very surprising to me if we are improved significantly on defense. I'm not giving Hardy a pass, but I also don't think he has much to work with.

I think it has to be two of those items. Like Lauri has a great season AND Key/Collier have a serious glow up.

Also hate the poll format where certain players are grouped together instead of picking 2-3 players out of a list.

I think Brice/Keyonte/Flip are the three young players who have a legit shot from going from negative to positive players who would change the quality of the team.

I had to combine options because the poll only allows for 10 options. I tried to group them based on position, agreed it's a little clunky.

Outsider Theory:

The Jazz brought in a scrub big man rim protector who at one point masqueraded as a 3pt shooter to teach Kessler that wanting to shoot 3's is bad for career if you suck at them.

Yes, true, and I thought about letting people choose multiple options, but I wanted to see what people thought was both the most likely, and would have the most impact.
Yeah I think Lauri turning in his best year would mean he leveled up and the guards did too... so it was my cheating way of combining things. I already priced in that Hardy is a good coach. There are enough building blocks that if multiple things go really right its a 30 win team. A singular surprise probably lands us at 25ish win range.
