Especially when that team is the Lakers and every other team just gifts them superstars all the time.

This is a measured take. "Not worth a damn" probably a strong descriptor. 10-14 would be awesome. Perhaps I should frame it as expectations a LAL future 1st would land in the top 5 of the lotto is likely a pipe dream (barring catastrophic injury, etc.)

That’s definitely not the only reason. I can assure you the Lakers would have found a way to get that deal done without Utah being involved if necessary.
