Smith vs Blake.

I've been saying for a bit that the way Blake acts, and the way he is always attempting to show up his opponent, that he would get hit more than most people because of this. This is a brutal foul, that I don't condone. However if Blake continues the way he plays I think he is going to see this more often than most players.

I don't know what lead to this as I just happened to see it on yahoo's front page.

...I concur! And was thinking the same thing! As you know, I'm for maximum penalties on flagrant fouls and was suprised he only got a 2 game suspension. I suspect had Griffin been airbourne and hit like that the suspension would have much more! But your point is well made.....Griffin likes to show up and "posterize" his dunk victims.....and it was only a matter of time before it caught up with him.

...obviously, we're not the only ones who were thinking this way!

"The book is out on Griffin. Hammer him, punish him, make it clear you will not stand for him putting you on NBC SportsTalk as a highlight. And since Griffin is so physical, so athletic, so aggressive, you have to do it fast. So you have fast, plus violence. Or, in the absence of fast, you can have reckless."

2 game suspension si horrible.
scre the nab its going soft
it was just a hard playoff foul.
if malone played in todays nba he would miss 25 games per season for suspensions

The foul wasn't that bad. Both players were still on the ground. Fouls when players pull airborn players down are much worse. Jason Smith just sent a message, and it worked. His team won the game and maybe now Griffin will think twice before he dunks.

He got a 2 game suspension, which I think is fair.

....the foul was bush league and reckless! Regardless of whether or not both players were on the ground, Griffin could have been seriously hurt landed awkwardly, separated a shoulder, broke a bone, busted a knee cap. I suspect had it been a black player taking out a white superstar, the penalty would have been much more severe! But then again, there aren't any white superstars anymore!

It is a joke that this gets a 2 games and Afflalo decking Hayward intentionally gets only 1 game. What a joke.

He should have waited an extra second and then taken Blake out while being in the air. That way Blake's head could have taken the brunt of the fall.

Jeez.

It was a hard foul. Smith didn't make any attempt on the ball. He was sending a message. But he wasn't trying to injure him. If he wanted to, he could have. I'd much rather be steamrolled while on the ground than bumped and defenseless in the air. Nothing is worse than when someone is hit while in the air and landing hard on their back, wrist, or head.

.....fact of the matter is ALL flagrant fouls detract from the game and produce bad results for the players and those watching. It causes players to take a finesse game and turn it into a physical sometimes violent sport, which it is not! They keep slapping the wrist on these flagrant fouls and your going to see another Pacers/Pistons meltdown where players go after each other and fans, setting the game back 20 years, which would be hard to do, since it's already past unwatchable!

There's not a lot I enjoy more than someone knocking Pau on his *** but Griffin's elbow dunking has got to go. It's b.s. Pau got a foul here for Griffin intentionally clocking him.

Pretty much every single post player commits an offensive foul every time he gets the ball in the post. It makes it borderline impossible to guard anyone in the post. Just put their shoulder down and knock the defender back back back and the hook him and spin. It's really frustrating to watch.

Big, strong hands are one of the most underrated characteristics a player can have in the entire NBA.

Jordan, Malone, Griffin, Duncan, Shaq, LeBron, Hakeem, and even Big Al would all agree with you. This is a great point! Favors does not have that big of hands but Kanter has quite large hands.

I didn't know that Enes had bigger hands then Favors. I thought usually people with larger wingspans almost always had larger hands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8FKTYuKUuI Like Kawhi Lenoard has a huge wingspan and huge hands to go with it.

Now look at this https://www.aljefferson25.com/you-v-big-al

Click "hands up" then click on "see this in actual size"

As you can see from Al Jeffersons official website that Al Jefferson has MASSIVE hands.

I don’t think wingspan has anything to do with hand size. Favors’ hand is 8.75L x 9.25W (he can palm the ball easily enough). Kanter’s is 9.50L x 10.75W (quite a bit longer and much wider). For comparison Demarcus Cousins’ hand is 9.25L x 10W, and Kawhi’s hand is 9.75L x 11.25W (1 inch longer and 2 inches wider than Favors’; not that much bigger than Kanter’s though). This is why I don't understand why Kanter doesn't use one hand on the ball like Big Al does and Malone used to. You can pass so much easier like that. By the way, Kanter's hand length is the same as Big Al's, and I'll bet you his hand is just as wide if not wider (his hands are actually quite wide).

Here are the measurements (you can search; they're doing something funky right now):
