Hayward and Burks just want to win in the NBA

That being said Burks needs to be playing only the shooting guard position. Jazz management cannot confuse him or upset him anymore by asking him to play part time point guard position. Burks and Hayward are probably going to get pissed by all the losing the Jazz are going to go thru at least next season and might demand trades which no one on here ever brought up. Let's keep them somewhat content by giving them quality minutes with Jefferson and Rush riding the bench big time. This is all leads to the Jazz needing three full time point guards in order to survive a season in the NBA. In order to do that they need to bring back Tinsley as the third string point guard to fill that final roster position and mentor Burke. The Jazz should try to fill up all 15 roster spots since Kanter, Rush and Marvin are questionable to start the season with their injuries so they need at least 12 healthy guys to play.

I could see them getting frustrated if losing was combined with playing second fiddle to a bunch of mid-grade vets. But the situation is that they will have to own the losing because it's going to be their team. If they don't like losing the obvious solution would be for them to figure out how to win.

They both need to just gut it out and do what it takes to play like starters on a winning team.. trust in the org.. and it will come.
I'm sure that's how it plays out, too.

I feel like they could be more opptimistic now though. It's their team and they have a great young core. Would you rather be on a team with a bright future or stuck in a log jam like we were...?

I think everyone ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ hit it on the head.
Losing will be frustrating I'm sure for them, just as it will be for the fans, but looking big picture I'm sure it will help them, and make them better players in the long run.
If they hate to lose, they are going to push themselves to work harder and try harder.

Hayward plays both wing positions. I think it's actually IMPORTANT for Burks to show he can play backup PG. It increases his value and puts the ball in his hands more. Imagine a trio of Andrew Harrison, Burke and Burke if the draft goes that way. Or what about Randle, Kanter and Favors. It's nice we have a few players wo can go 2/3 or 4/5. Jazz have really never had a combo guard. Foye was about the closest one, although Sloan did play Deron at SG for a brief period before Maynor was traded.

If Burks wants to ball he must take advantage of any opportunity given. Knowing multiple positions means knowing where those positions are supposed to be on the floor on a given play that much better. Prove your IQ and just ball.

Just like he did last year, he will again this year.

Everytime Alec touches the ball he should try to score all by himself.

I recall you saying that you really didn't watch many games last year..... i guess you were telling the truth
Burks looked afraid to shoot most of the time last year (probably from fear that he would get benched for watson)

Yeah, I was really just trying for a silly zinger more than anything else. Busted.

The jazz seem to be pushing Burks to be more defensive minded!!

I think the main goal this year is to build a defensive juggernaut, not scoring!!

Then hopefully who ever we draft next year will bring the O!!

ok I work with Tim Donaldson, yes nephew of former jazzman James, and he played at CU with burks and we got talking the other day had some interesting observation.

1- burks has a hard time playing in a structured offense, he likes to improvise.

2- burks is a great scorer and will do great things but other times will give you face palms. with him you gotta let him play and accept the mistakes (the reason I think he is best suited for a bench role in the nba)

3- he is not a pg (the position Tim played)

FYI Tim just transferred to usu. then broke his toes taking out his girlfriends garbage.
