Interesting topic. Personally, I would feel more comfortable with risking long-term assets on a potential short-term rental once the team is a little more established (WCF) as there is a greater league-wide stigma surrounding Utah as a FA destination imo. OKC has had more recent success &...
Another reason I'm on board with this pick is that it adds to our collection of frustrating guys to play against. Teams already disliked facing us, adding Allen only increases that. Soft/mentally weak teams are going to fold. Especially over the span of a 7 game series.
Allen isn't an exciting pick but it makes a ton of sense.
-We already have our young superstar in DM so adding a "safe" prospect to a young, competitive team is a smart move & signifies that DL believes the championship foundation is already in place.
-He fills multiple needs as a shooter &...
Would've preferred a guy with a higher upside but I like the pick. He can create, shoot, fits alongside Mitchell, gives max effort, & should contribute immediately.
At #21, there's a lot of value in adding a likely (at minimum) role-player who fills offensive needs & should "buy in" to a young...
Was gonna write something similar. I didn't like the fit either but without Rubio, we would be in a much different situation currently. He & Snyder both deserve a ton of credit for the improvements/integration into the offense. DL as well for identifying the untapped potential & cultural fit.
Haven't paid much attention to this year's draft class outside of the top tier. Any suggestions on prospects in our range worth checking out would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Hayward+ for Kawhi makes sense but I can't see Stevens signing off. Although Ainge is the type of GM that might pull the trigger anyway. Imagine if signing Hayward turned out to be their undoing..
Simmons has the better numbers but the context in which Mitchell has put up his is more impressive imo. Tho both are deserving & I can see the argument for either
Good grades. As long as DL, Snyder, Gobert, & Mitchell are here, I don't see how we won't be successful. We are extremely lucky to have them. And that's not even mentioning guys like Ingles, Rubio, Crowder, Exum, etc. Great time to be a Jazz fan.
Not sure how anyone can listen to/observe Mitchell & come away with anything other than a sense of sincere humility & thoughtfulness. Outside of some NBA2k create a player nonsense, DM is essentially the prototype that I would use if designing a young star (skill-wise as well as...
I was talking more specifically about a player's team-first mentality/all-out style of play. I agree GSW has multiple tough competitors but some styles of competitiveness can ultimately have a net-negative impact on a locker room/team chemistry in the long run.
DM, Gobert, Ingles, & Crowder (&...
To use Crowder as an example/excuse to bring this up, DL deserves serious credit for utilizing a strategy that has been seemingly neglected/undervalued by focusing on competitive players that fit the team culture. I still believe that talent typically wins out, especially in this current NBA...
Crowder shouldn't be judged until after he's had a full off-season with the team. He's still in the proces of integratimg/brushing off his (fixable) poor tendencies developed in CLEn, seemingly due to their style of play/offense. At minimum, he should be a key role-player for a couple more...
Wasn't necessarily a need but def a guy you want on your team during a playoff push, even if only for what he brings to a locker room. I'm not overly familiar with IND's big man situation but I assume he's chasing playing time. Tho I'd be surprised if DL didn't at least inquire on him, as his...
I'm a fan & he fits the mold of player DL has targeted but imo we need to be careful about who we commit significant long-term cap space to as we are likely still an impact player away from truly contending.
Bradley is seemingly maxed out so unless he comes at a bargain, we need to preserve our...
Crowder's personality/style of play should mesh perfectly with DM, Gobert, Ingles, etc. My guess is it's 1 of the main reasons (along with contract/versatility) DL targeted him.
Hood is probably a better fit in a vacuum due to his shooting/age but Crowder is signed for 2 more years at below market value & is a "Jazz type of player" ala DMC/Booker.
I was hoping we would target picks/young talent but given our recent success & current standing in the playoff picture, it...
