How long does a SUCCESSFUL tank need to be?

I'm not "hyper-fixated" on anything. I've seen this same discussion so many times over the years that it's become tiresome. I'll move on.

How long does a SUCCESSFUL tank need to be?

Looks like you still don’t get it. It makes no sense to say that a team shouldn’t tank because this and that player has been selected with a low pick before. You compare apples and oranges. If we don't tank, it doesn’t mean we get all the picks outside the top 5.

How long does a SUCCESSFUL tank need to be?

Your logic is puzzling here. You compare the number one picks against all the picks outside the top 5 picks over 10 years. If we don’t look beyond the 1st round, that means 10 first-round picks (#1) compared to 250 first-round picks (#6-30). That is a huge difference and should be no surprise...

    Collier’s Future

Right, he's such a gifted passer he makes passes even when he doesn't pass.

    Collier’s Future

Yeah, PGs who can pass and shoot simultaneously

    Collier’s Future

In your post, you assume that young Collier, who has just started in the NBA, will not improve as a player. Also, your claim that the era of pass-first PGs is over is baloney. But as always on this board, you just had to come up with a negative take, didn’t you? No one knows yet what Collier...

Thanks for the clip. Terrific passes from Collier.

Is next season as a tank pretty much off the table?

No, it's not off the table. If the Jazz are smart, they tank the next season as well.

Game Thread Feb 05, 2025 07:00PM MT: Golden State Warriors @ Utah Jazz

Collier is so much fun. Hard to believe he was 19 years old less than 4 months ago.

    Does John Collins Get Traded?

Yes, I definitely think we should trade Collins. We’ve got seven young players and more coming in the next couple of drafts. The Jazz need to figure out what these young guys are and work on developing them. Hendricks will be on the court next season. Also, Cody will be playing more. We’re...

    2024-2025 Tank Race

Yeah, not quite sure what the FO thinks, but some tankers believe we should stand pat at the trade deadline and keep Sexton, Collins, and Clarkson. They say it’s been going well so far so why worry. That’s a risky route to take imo. Still 37 games left, and teams will be tanking even harder down...

    Looking ahead to 2025-2026

Great thread. I would trade Sexton, Collins, and Clarkson this summer if we still have any of them after the trade deadline and tank for the 2026 draft, regardless of who we get in the upcoming draft.

Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

Ok now you’re trying to get off the hook and jump out of the boat.

Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

What makes you think I’m projecting his development? I’m not projecting anything. You’re putting words into my mouth. I just disagree with your trashing of Collier.

Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

Collier has played in the league for less than three months. And you trash him already. The kid’s been one of the top playmakers in the league since he started getting more minutes. And you trash him. Three, four, five years from now? Who knows. But give me a break.

Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

I'm tired of reading this kind of s***t on this board. Let our rookies and young players breathe. Key and Collier have a lot of stuff to learn, but so do other players their age.

Collier Starting Over Keyonte: Are We Happy?

I like it. We’ll never become a contender without good defense and playmaking. Collier has averaged 8.6 assists per game in the last 10 games where he played more than 25 minutes per game. At that pace, he would rank 6th in the league, just ahead of Harden (8.3 AST per game) and behind...

Yeah, real nice prospects coming up in the 2026 draft.

I want the Jazz to lose.

I disagree. We can be unhappy about a solution, cry about it (as people often do), etc., but I don’t think we should criticize whoever put it in place unless we can provide a better solution or tell where to find it. It’s as simple as that—nothing “silly” about it.

I want the Jazz to lose.

Ok you start your post by saying you understand why teams tank, but then you give a lot of reasons why they shouldn’t. What would you do if you were a GM for the Nets, Raptors, Hornets, Wizards, Pelicans, and Jazz (all tanking this season)? What would be your alternative for each team, given...
