The more I think about it, Donovan should not play unless Mike plays. I think Quin could manage their minutes and alternate them, so that they both get 25 minutes. We need at least one of them playing at all times and it would lessen the load on them.
What? Bogey made five or was it four 3's in a row in the first quarter. They were on fire. But they didn't defend. It was frustrating because they couldn't miss so they let up on d and that dictated the ball game.
I say trade Rudy and build around Donovan. Rudy has been exposed and small ball is now the way to go. If Rudy could stop creating and causing so many turnovers, we would've won this series by now. But he is just so inept offensively that he hurts the team and stops momentum. The question is what...
Can't fault him for wanting to play. Same thing with Embid. His injury has affected his play as well. It's the playoffs; it's do or die. As Greg Anthony did say, you can still play with a bad ankle and help the team. Look at Harden who was a shell of himself last game but he gutted it out...
Everyone has been talking about Quin outcoaching Lue, but just the opposite has happened. They have basically neutralized Rudy by playing small ball. Similar to what happened a couple of years ago against Houston. And they are creating mismatches. The double team on Donovan also has worked...
Rondo has barely played, so now I expect he will get lots of time. He can still be a difference maker. The way the blew us out last game shows they won't be an easy out.
Wonder what happened to cause Jeff Green to leave the Jazz. He is looking very good tonight and would've been a better option on defense against Kawhi or PG because he has the size to guard them; Royce does not. I'll bet that the reason was Green wanted out.
The reason players can't get Rudy the ball has more to do with Rudy than the players trying to get him the ball. He just can't handle passes unless they are above his waist. This is something he needs to work on the in the off-season, and it's well overdue.
I don't trust the Jazz FO. If they had kept Donovan out, the Jazz may have lost to the Grizzlies. Mike himself said before the start of the Clippers series that this is the playoffs and he was ready to play. That was a week ago.
At this point, he needs to play, and if he doesn't and we lose to the Clippers, then there is a lot of blame to throw around, and that includes Conley, who like DM should demand to play.
