I have not read all13 pages in this thread so maybe my points had been made already. Anyway.
1. The second round picks that are 35+ are worth almost nothing. One out of ten of them will turn out into a rotation player. The Jazz had 35 of these picks since the mid 80s and got exactly 3 players...
It's 2.8 million per year. In return you get a player who is good off the bench, does not have obvious holes in his game and knows all the Jazz plays extremely well. Oh, and by all accounts he gets along great with coaches and other players and wants to be here.
Can you find a markedly better...
Am I the only one who gets uncomfortable with the disconnect between the hype around Ace and what he looks now as a player? Because what I saw was a player with a very limited bag and who is not smart on both offense and defense and who, as a result is often forced to take tough, well-defended...
The Jazz want Ace to be happy and stick with the team. They do not care at all about what Clarkson, Sexton, Keyonte and Collins think. These players either fall in line or will not be on the court.
Out of all top-10 drafted players only Tre and Fears will have similar wide-open opportunities...
Most people really underestimate how many minutes and opportunities do the Jazz shove down the throats of their young players. Filipowski averaged 14-15 PPG in the last two months, Keyonte - 13 PPG in his first season and so on. And they had vastly inferior offensive capabilities compared to...
Slow rhythm is not the root problem here. Joe Ingles played slow and was damn effective. Kawhi and Jokic are slow and deliberate and they one of the best basketball players alive.
Cody's problem is his general lack of skills. When you are not good at dribbling, shooting and finishing at the...
Nah, that's Yuri Collins, who played last season for the Warriors. Yuri was born with 6 fingers on his right hand. Supposedly, the 6th finger has been surgically removed when he was a baby but Collins will obviously regrow it as a lizard upon joining the Jazz to improve his ball handling. His...
Kon is like Hayward. Folks on this site were so upset when the Jazz drafted him... and then were equally upset at him leaving. "How could he do it to us after all this love we showered on him?"
Well, we can look at the past drafts to see how often the guards with Collier's stats (25% 3PT, 68% FT%) improved over time. By improved I mean at least reaching the 32% 3-pointers and 75% FT% level.
I looked at all guards (drafted in the 10 drafts staring in 2011/12) who got enough play in...
