My guess is that when CLE re-engaged with our FO, they probably said, "we're willing to 'up' our previous offer under the condition that you don't just use it to get NYK to match/beat it. If you're willing to do that, then we'll put this offer on the table."
Perused the Cavs fans' messageboard. Was surprised by how bummed they were that Markkanen was in the deal. Seems like that's their biggest gripe as far as personnel they gave up. The next biggest bummer was Agbaji. No one seemed sad to see Sexton gone.
Random question, but does anyone know if we could trade out a future unprotected pick we have from MIN or CLE, but we then put protections on it? Example, we trade out Minnesota's 2027 1st rounder, but we protect it 1-14. Doable? Not doable? Was just wondering.
I think Begley’s math is this RJ = 1 UFRP + Toppin or Quickley. Thus the trade would now look like Grimes + Toppin (or Quickley) + 3 UFRP. I bet you throw in 2-3 protected picks and that’s where the deal happens.
There's a good chunk of Jazz Nation who, if rules would allow, would trot out a starting lineup of nothing but future 1st round picks next year. It's a bit odd.
Man, with all the iterations of trades that we've all thrown out here; when this thing actually happens, the amount of "I TOLD YOU SO!!" posts is going to be unbearable.
This gets said all the time, but $40 MM is a lot of money to just pay someone to go away. Does this mean that the going rate for an unprotected pick is $20MM and solid role players? I get it, no one would want him to play for us, but that's just a ton of money to pay someone not to play.
I like this. I'd consider the idea of subbing out RJ for Grimes + Toppin, but overall I like this. I don't think we were actually that far off. I may have gotten a little overzealous with trying to get Toppin and Grimes in my trade as well. Only reason I started thinking about RJ to LAL was...
How about this one? We get 6! unprotected firsts and Grimes and Toppin. Lakers get a young star in Barrett plus 2 players that are ideal for a Lebron team, and the Knicks get their superstar and a legit rotation piece.
No idea if this site factors in the poison pill provision, but if this is doable, then this is my guess as to how this ultimately shakes out, based on everything that's been reported and everything's that happened so far. Maybe a super swap or something is thrown in as well.
Knicks Fans: “Jazz have to trade Donovan this summer. There’s no way there going to bring him into training camp after trying to trade him this summer”
Meanwhile the Knicks just fully admitted they tried to trade Barrett before (perhaps reluctantly?) signing him to his extension, and are...
Seems like Tony/Shams typically like to send out their vague "update" tweets on Monday to initiate their news cycle for the week. Nothing today though...
I'm still really confused by that sequence of events that happened. Did we ever get a good explanation? I know he (PK) addressed it the following day, but even then he didn't back down from what he said. Although he kind of danced around things and tried to maintain that he was just saying...
I don't know if it's uniform across the league, but here's a few dates that should shed some light. Eurobasket goes through September 18 and the preseason starts September 30 (sidenote: Jazz play their first preseason game on 10/2). I'd guess training camp starts for most teams sometime in mid...
