Not a surprise, but that payroll is going to get out of control real fast. I wonder if there might be an opportunity to get one of their “big three” here when it becomes unsustainable.
Ok. Harkless is a dog. I’m sold. Convert his contract and let him harass guys. At the very least, his defensive intensity should help the other guards in practice.
Nah. I’m pretty high on WCJ too, but I think Collier starts most (if not all) of this year. As long as they’re competing and working hard, I could care less which guy starts and which guy finishes. The results are out on the court. May the best PG play.
Agreed, and he had a rough go through the first half of last night, but based on his college tape (especially through the tournament) and in limited flashes so far. . . I’m confident in my assessment. Some guys have that “It” factor - he has it in spades.
I’ll admit that I wanted Kas with #21, and that I was wrong and I’m incredibly happy the Jazz were aggressive and moved up to get WCJ ahead of Miami and before Golden Stare could get involved. He’s going to be an incredibly solid player - which is a steal at #18.
I think they’re perfectly happy with their lowball offer hoping he takes it, but the moment the market sets the price they match it - just like the Jazz did with Hayward and Charlotte. The big backfire was it allowed someone else to set the terms and the Jazz lost at least a year of his service...
Dan in Real Life would be my first option. Steve Carrell is absolutely phenomenal in that movie. Gets me every time I watch it.
Aside from that, I’d probably pick one I could enjoy with my kids and future grandkids - maybe The Princess Bride. It’s old and cheesy, but it still holds up.
I’m actually pretty bullish on WCJ playing early and often this year. He’s an older rookie, but I still see a lot of room for growth as well. Saw some great plays of offense - both passing and shooting and a good mentality on defense. His one well-timed strip late in the game was a huge momentum...
Just went back and watched the highlights here and a couple of things stand out. . .
#1 - Ace is a killer in the midrange. If he has consistent shooters all around him, I think this helps open up the whole court.
#2 - The most impressive thing to me is that he’s made WINNING plays on both...
I would’ve taken him even with the drama, and was pretty open about it at the time. You just don’t usually have a shot at an upside guy like him at that point in the draft. In football, there’s something called “the planet theory” - essentially - there’s only so many guys on the planet that have...
Should the Jazz keep him on as a 2 way for now and then convert his contract to a full one later in the season? Since he’s already on the 2 way and in the 18 man roster, it might make sense to utilize the other spots with trades and/or signings before converting him. At least to start the season.
Yeah. I think I said it would be Sensabaugh for SLC and WCJ for Vegas. . . but now I’m thinking it’ll probably be Ace for Vegas. Dude is special. Definitely has “Face of the Franchise” vibes like Donovan did when he first got here. Glad the Jazz did what they had to in order to get him.
I’m not really interested in going the RFA or sign & trade route, but I think Kuminga is a much more obtainable option tbh.
Either way, I do think I’d like the Jazz to go after Anthony Black. Not sure what he’d cost to go get, but I’d love to see him with the Jazz.
Look, I’m happy that Cody’s shown some improvement and I’m still hopeful that he’s going to pan out - with that said, I just wonder how things would look right now if this team had Ace Bailey, Matas Buzelis (instead of Cody) and GG Jackson (instead of Sensabaugh).
Collier/WCJ
Bailey/Keyonte...
I’m assuming it was just when he got switched guarding the center. Probably not an intentional choice. I did notice it happen a couple of times while I was watching the game. Their defense was a little odd at times.
