I said it hadn't so far this year because he doesn't touch the ball enough to make a difference.
If he's going to take 2fga for every 3 minutes he plays then it will go badly.
He should be in the Gleague right now.
Offrtg and defrtg are team stats. It's how well the team is performing while someone is playing. By calling someone a tank commander you are saying that they are singlehandedly bringing the team down. Cody hasn't done that so far. He hasn't been a good tank commander because we have...
Probably, sure. He certainly wasn't helping the offense be good. The point still stands that in almost every game he's played in this year he hasn't been the primary reason for us losing games.
He absolutely was last night, but it was against by far the best defense in the league. Up until the game last night we had a 120ortg with Cody on the court, which means he wasn't negatively impacting our offense.
Maybe teams weren't playing off him enough and we see that in the future...
We're not losing games because of Cody's 2.3 missed fga and 0.4 to. There might be something to the playing 4 on 5, but so far it hasn't been an issue. Cody currently has the 6th highest offensive rating on the team and 7th highest net rating.
Cody simply doesn't impact anything right now...
I reject the idea that Cody is a good tank commander. Yes, he is really bad, but it is almost impossible to really negatively effect the game when you don't touch the ball and when you are one of your team's best defenders. There is really no good reason for Cody to be playing with the Jazz...
Cody is the guy that needs the GLEAGUE the most. So this doesn't make sense to me.
Any reps are good for Hendricks I guess, but I would prefer those reps are NBA ones. I'm ok with WCJ getting some more on ball reps I guess, but again would prefer those to be in the NBA.
Cody so clearly...
Nah, the number one reason was that OKC just put it in another gear. Cody was bad, but he also just happened to play when OKC locked in for the second half. I'll hear out Cody as the number two reason, but that might be masking how bad several others were playing during that stretch.
I agree with the premise that Cody is bad, but the reasons you give are not correct, in my opinion. Cody is smart and is generally in the right place at the right time. It's like the one thing he is good at and the reason he is getting playing time right now. Also, his reaction time is fine...
Not even Jazz related, I have categorized LaMelo in to a bucket of guys that don't play winning basketball. I think he's extremely talented, but his defense and style of play is hard to win with. I'm not 100% sure that's fair. Maybe in a new situation he could thrive.
