Absolutely not! They should have traded him last deadline, now their relationship is going to be awful and his trade value is much lower. Kessler just does not fit at all what Hardy wants in an NBA center and has no future on this team yet they won't move him.
Well, it's been 7 games, but also PPP is a horrific metric for transition defense too.
Last year, teams took 22.6% of their possessions in transition against the Jazz (the worst in the league and one of the worst marks in NBA history). The Rockets were middle of the pack at 18.4%
I mean, it's been 7 games and he's doing it mostly by having the single greatest foul drawing season of all time through 7 games. If he keeps being the best foul drawer in NBA history after 30 games, then yes, people will start wondering if he can be a star.
His offensive impact does need to be...
Hardy sends everyone to the glass.
But it works way worse for us because the Rockets have Amen Thomspon and Tari Eason who are elite transition defenders and the Jazz have terrible transition defenders, lol.
Amen can crash and then instantly get back to shut off transition. The Jazz guys crash...
FWIW, I'm not for tanking until we have an MVP, but I do think we need a lot more tanking to set ourselves up for a sustainable multi year core that can reach the 2nd round every once and a while. The goal is to be the Pistons, not the Thunder or Spurs.
On one hand, yes, on the other hand, we blew up a 2nd round contender with a 26 year old Hall of Famer under contract for three more years to tank for four years and blew up a 2nd round contender with tons of cap space at the following trade deadline instead of building around a 25 year old...
I think the issue with like a Keyonte/Lauri/Walker/Brandon Ingram-like team is that this gets extremely expensive extremely fast for a first round exit. Like, that's probably already close to the tax in two years.
If Ace starts showing signs of life, maybe we could trade him and our pick this...
OK, but Lauri's prime is nearly over and we have no ability to build a team around him to even become a 48 win team.
I don't really understand the point of this line of thought. This is a fair point for the 2022-2023 trade deadline, it does not make any sense now. We have to tank over and over...
An unethical tank doesn't make a ton of sense though as these guys will still be 2-3 years away and by the time they're ready, Lauri will be a free agent and 32.
Beyond the logistics not making sense, I'm pretty sure the NBA would be furious with the team and might try to blackball Hardy et al...
I don't know if it's an intentional strategy compared to Ace just being terrible so far. If Harper or VJ were here, they would be getting 35+ minutes a night based on how they played, lol.
I do think it's obviously going to be a shock for Ace to have him mentally transition from "I am going to...
We need a top 2 or 3 pick (depending on how many of Peterson, Boozer, and AJ turn out), our worst case scenario barely matters. I don't think our future was changed at all by the fact that we ended up with Ace instead of Tre or Fears.
I mean, yeah, we have a couple years to evaluate Hendricks, but nothing so far in his career has given reason for optimism. Hopefully he can develop as a defender and a ball handler because his shooting+size is nice, but we'll see.
It's very tough because I just don't think Hendricks or Ace can play SG at all so I'm not sure they're developing there either. And I don't think Ace or Hendricks would benefit at all from the G-League either as the majority of their potential is on defense and no one defends in the G-League...
Hendricks is nowhere close to an NBA role player currently. His lack of defense and ball handling makes him a 0 on both ends and he needs to dramatically improve both or he'll be out of the league.
Ehh, I think this is a combination of
1. Will Hardy has very little credibility with a lot of fans due to how terrible he is at coaching defense. Him finishing last in defense two years ago with Kris Dunn and Walker Kessler is frankly unbelievable.
2. The team has a relentless propaganda...
The Celtics missed 40 threes last night, I don't think we need to worry about our pick when we beat a 35 win team by one possession as long as they go 11/51 from three, lol.
In terms of minutes, IDK, Brice and Cody just aren't going to be relevant NBA players almost certainly and we have a huge...
It's very strange how the team developed him. I don't understand the point of any of this weight when he doesn't have the handle to use any of it. He has a body that is now much better for offense than defense, but without any offensive skillset. I don't know.
