This right here is probably the only reason the NBA would consider keeping the record-weighted lottery. It gives fans of losing teams something to hope for.
It's bad for the sport though because now we have to watch good teams like Miami play a third of their schedule against teams that haven't...
This is why the NBA needs to get rid of the lottery and determine the draft order in a way that has nothing to do with team record.
It would be awesome this season to be able to root for wins unconditionally. Instead we're stuck in this bizarro world where winning is losing and losing is...
This needs to happen. The NBA would be so much better if being a decent team wasn't such a bad thing.
Owners and GMs might not like it because it would take away the mechanism that allows them to make losing out to be something desirable.
Steve Brown is more embarrassing to the Jazz franchise than that third quarter yesterday. It's not just that he gets stuff wrong. It's as if he's watching a totally different game in a world peopled by cartoons whose motives only he can interpret through his mastery of the English language...
I get the feeling it goes even deeper than that. I think Harpring is plotting Steve Brown's murder.
So awkward the other night when they got in that little fight over how many teams Belinelli had played for. Brown was way off, as usual, and when Harpring corrected him he wasn't even playful...
Some of you are being a little harsh toward Hayward. He isn't being greedy. He's showing some confidence in himself. Probably a smart move considering everyone knows he's going to have the ball all season long.
The Jazz are being smart, too. No point in signing him now unless they knew they...
While his playoff numbers over four games probably mean something, statistics are only as valuable as what they can be used to predict. Here are some things Hayward's playoff numbers mean less than:
1) His career numbers.
2) His numbers last season.
3) His agent's gut feeling on the numbers...
Great post. Totally agree. I was just commenting on the weird logic that some people were using to say that somehow Tinsley is going to improve our players' development without any impact on our record.
Personally, I think it's way more important for our current lottery talent to start living...
How can a player help with the development of our young bigs without slowing the tank? I like the signing too, but, if we want to perform at our absolute worst, wouldn't it be better to let JLIII chuck away?
This is scary. His role is gonna be so different this year that I don't think his past numbers matter at all. Maybe he keeps his percentages up, but I could see them drooping. I do know that his usage is going to skyrocket, and he's going to produce much better raw stats.
Maybe all this time...
Houston, Denver, and Portland are the worst. They all bring the same negative vibe and spend too much time whining about the refs.
Matt and Boler are homers as well, but they keep their act pretty kindhearted. It only gets a little awkward when they start to scold the Jazz for taking bad shots...
I can't take anyone seriously that is bashing Burke. The only reason we're even talking about it is because we wanted to keep riding the high of getting him, and all those missed shots kinda killed the buzz.
But to try and take anything that happened in three sloppy summer league games and use...
It's a big deal that we traded up to get Burke. It shows a commitment to a player that isn't necessarily there if you simply take some highly rated player that falls to you. A lot of people's futures are now tied to Burke, even Corbin's, who clearly played some role in the decision. It's really...
I wonder if the move Rigby hinted at was a trade of Favors for the #1 pick.
I know we keep saying that Favors would be the #1 pick this year, but would you be okay with the trade if it signaled a clear goal to land a top five pick in 2014?
I don't think Cleveland can afford another year...
I like Olynyk as well. He's seven feet tall and good at basketball.
College production is a much better predictor of pro production than wingspan is. Besides, his reach is 9', which is fine for a PF, so I wish we could stop talking about his arms.
I think it's a good sign if the Jazz pick Larkin. Maybe they know next year's squad will thrive more in the pick and roll and we won't have to watch so many post ups.
