    I love Al Jefferson Thread

How do the efficiency numbers compare when you factor in TOs as FGAs?

    Losing Interest

This team is just not very compelling right now. We lost our star player, and the players who still have potential to be stars are all stuck in bench roles. It's not a pleasant situation for anyone. Corbin holds so many players' careers in his hands right now that it's no wonder we're seeing...

Well, that was kind of cool.

Game #3: Jazz at Spurs 6:30 PM MST - Root Sports, 1280 AM/97.5 FM

Steve Brown says so many wrong things. And he and Harpring are awful together. They both do this weird scolding thing when the Jazz aren't playing well, and the patronizing tone makes a bad game even more unbearable.

Can The Al Jefferson Experiment please end?

He missed some shots, but he grabbed a ton of boards, got to the line, passed out of double teams (even one good pass to a cutter), and even ran the break once. The only thing wrong with Jefferson last game was that it's more exciting for fans to watch Favors and Kanter play. He can't change...

    Is AK worth $10 million?

I didn't say they'd be better than the Jazz--we have better finishers--but they're going to move the ball much better than us.

    Is AK worth $10 million?

He was the Euroleague MVP and was making four million Euros after taxes. Ten million US dollars before taxes is pretty much the same amount. They probably had to pay him this much to get him to come back over. He's a great fit for Minny. So many unselfish players, Adelman as coach, they're...

Another premature trade thread...based on our current team, who/what could we trade Al for?

Millsap's not better at everything. Al's a better defensive rebounder, shot blocker, and man defender. He also draws double teams, which Millsap doesn't. Passing might come more naturally to Millsap, but he only averages .1 more assists per game than Al. Al improved his passing this year, and he...

This years draft vs Last years draft

The average PER for the top 30 2011 rookies was 14.18. Can anyone find it for previous years? John Hollinger's player statistics page can't sort by rookies for previous seasons. My guess is that statistically the class of 2011 wasn't as weak as everyone always says. It's just something people...

Another trade idea...it's from me so it involves Deron

Yeah, all three of those guys are reasonably efficient players. Al and Dwight do it with high usage rates. Points per shot is worthless. TS% tells more of the story, but it ignores turnovers, which is Al's biggest strength. Anyone who uses either of those metrics to call Al inefficient is...

Another trade idea...it's from me so it involves Deron

Not really. Go check out how many of Dwight's possessions ended in free throws (which he sucks at) and turnovers (which Al owns at), run the numbers again, and you'll find that Al scores more points per possession than Dwight does. Defense is another story, but Al is a more efficient scorer than...

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Who were we going to pick at 14 that would make the playoffs not worth it? The Jazz set a goal, worked hard, and achieved it. So what if they got swept. Next year they'll set a higher goal. And we gained a pick next year! The only thing we really lost was the difference in quality between this...

Did it worth losing the lottery pick ?

We lost the pick when we traded for Jefferson. We were going to give it up eventually. This year, next year, not a huge difference. Unless you buy into the draft depth hype, but really that's just an every other year thing. Last year's draft was supposedly shallow, so this year's draft is...

Trades Ideas to get into the Lottery

We don't even need to trade into the lottery. This strikes me as the kind of draft that the good teams will be able to get key players late in the first. How do we get any first rounder?

is the 2013 draft really that bad

Who were we all so excited about with the 8th pick in this draft anyway? Lillard or Marshall would have been nice, but both a bit of a reach. ^^^^I choose to think this way because it helps with the hurt.

absolutely love this truehoop piece on tanking

It makes you wonder where winning comes from. You look at the best teams and the usually their top players came from the draft. Did they just get lucky? Coaching and culture must play a big part. Money and market size also help. Sacramento, for example, has drafted reasonably well, but they...

    Lottery Standings

I'm with you on that, players play to win and to get their next contract, but the situation has to have some effect on their ability to win. They're 4-11 since management decided to tank with the Ellis trade and were something like 17-20 before that. Their schedule is brutal, and I'm not sure...

    Lottery Standings

They're coming out of this season with a losing record no matter what. Their nightmare would be finishing up with the eighth worst record, giving up their pick to a better team in their conference, only making it more hopeless that they ever see the playoffs again. However, if they keep their...
