You summed it up well! I would make a small edit to "brink of contention" and change to "develop into a competitive playoff team" I think the "brink of contention" comes after the big internal leap or we get the big fish. Great post.

Plus there are a handful of teams hording capital (players and picks) waiting for a star to come available. Even when that star is available he'll have option and some say in where he goes. Its just not likely that we are going to get a top star.

No. Locke mentioned Nets are a top 10 defense the past two week and this would be a good test for us. We can't beat good defensive teams.
