I honestly haven't watched enough ihart to remember. I do think he can make solid passes from the elbow, though. I just can't remember if he has the handles to qualify as a "point center".
I think a point center has to have enough shooting and dribbling threat so that his defender cannot sag...
Not sure where he (or someone like him) would be mocked in this draft, but I'd be so willing to gamble on this archetype with a pick that's 20 or later. Like, very willing. The jazz roster is begging for a point center.
I dig your perspective here, but I mostly want to keep Walker (and hope it's for the right price, of course).
My dream is for a Point Center who is above average at defense, but I don't know where we're getting one of those.
I'm not a cap guy, but I don't see how the jazz can acquire Giannis because of salary-matching issues. Unless we send Lauri out.... which obviously would blunt any interest that Giannis might have. It would have to be in the offseason, and it would have to involve Walker on a sign-and-trade...
In my ideal scenario the Jazz get a top-6 pick and turn their cap space into the best draft assets they can muster. Alternatively, if we could get Ayo or P.Watson, then that'd be great. Not holding my breath for that, though
Wagler is my favorite guy outside of the top tier.
I love his shifty change-of-pace with the ball. Kinda reminds me of the feelings I had about CJ McCollum coming out of the draft. You just knew he was going to be able to create space to get his shot off.
Yes, but they knew what they had in Steph (he was totally untouchable, and they were definitely building around him). Rookie Klay was pretty great. AND they had plenty of quality players on that roster. Would Steph have played more if they weren't engineering their way to the bottom of the...
I've said this before, but it needs repeating:
The concept of "tanking" is sucking all the air out of a larger conversation on the fact that roster building is a process that takes place over multiple seasons. Teams live in a system where they have to think about asset acquisition periods...
The Thunder were also artificially inflating their losses through the Chet draft. The artificial inflation was tamping down some glow-ups (similar to what we're seeing from Keyonte) that happened after the inflation tactics were ended.
For the record, I'm not worried, per se. It's just that if you told me to start the year that by midway through the season Ace would be 100x less the blackhole he looked like in college and Walt would be 50x less the shooter he was projected to be..... I'd have been pretty shocked. Not worried...
