This one is not a high profile one, but Jon Leuer should definitely be offered by the Jazz. This guy would be perfect off the bench if Trey Lyles is still slow to develop. Check out some Phoenix Suns games and watch him a few times, and I think you will all agree this guy is tailor made for Coach Quin's offense. He's not a sieve on defense either, but he won't be relied upon to log heavy minutes guarding the opposing team's starter.

As far as non-stars go, Aaron Brooks (backup PG), if Booker doesn't return and we need to sign a cheap PF let it be James Johnson or grandpa Nene Hilario and if Exum is looking awesome we can sign Andre Miller to teach him the ways of the PG. I think Andre Miller will be a solid coach someday. Scola would be a fun PF signing as well.

chance sDurant land in Utah????Zero Percent. It will be three team race, OkC, Wizards , LAkers. You are not an elite team so you wont get elite players unless you draft them,. Sorry to tell ya but ya got to face the music sometime.

This thread is a great example of why..... Any white player is a perfect fit for the offense, LMAO. You will be once again picking in the lottery
You will once again be posting on a website full of people that hate you

****. this thread is off to quite the start...

David Lee shouldn't be an option, he'll cost too much, ask for too many years, he's shrewd. Ryan Anderson will be looking to cash in too. There's cheaper options of those type of players that are better value IMO.

If your going to pay that type of $$, I'd say try to steal a younger RFA first. Meyers Leonard or Donatas Motiejunas... Both would be interesting looks in the frontcourt, Leonard could play a decent chunk of minutes at PF..

I don't have any qualms with Leuer, I just like those 2 RFA's better, all depends on the price. I don't hate the super cheap options on stretch 4's either though, Charlie V.

This free agent class could be slim pickins for the Jazz though, it's kinda why I was hoping for moves this past summer.

I'd look at Eric Gordon honestly, depending on how much he's asking for.. With Alec being able to switch to PG and SF and Hood being able to play SF, I think they could carve minutes out for him, he'd obviously add much needed 3pt shooting.

Evan Fournier is a RFA and will cost a pretty penny to steal from Orlando, not the worst option, but If they weren't going to go after Tobias Harris, IDK if they will go after Fournier..

Mo Harkless is a name to keep an eye on too, he's shooting 43% from 3 - IF he can maintain that for a full season, he's going to get PAID - he's just 22.

Langston Galloway at this point is who I'd have to say is he RFA PG i'd look at, he's got an interesting skillset compared to our PG's -- He's shooting 60% from 3 right now.. Great find by the Knicks scouting staff for sure.

No one else is going to say it. so I'll step up to the plate.

**** team need, or fit, go BPA and sign Hassan Whiteside... he's really athletic, more than Rudy, I'd play him at PF some to make it work. The Jazz would lead the league in blocks by a wide margin.

No one is saying Whiteside becasue he would never sign here. And not on some "Because we are Utah" ****

1. The Jazz would never offer him the max since we have Rudy
2. He would never come here because Rudy is already here. Why would he want to compete for center minutes when he can go nearly anywhere else and be a starter?
3. Whiteside/Gobert starting would never work and you aren't signing Whiteside to a huge max deal to bring him off the bench.

The idea is fun, but it's not anywhere within the realm of reality.

If we are looking at what the Jazz want in their 3rd big, it's someone who has the traits of Draymond Green. That seems to be what they where going for with Lyles, Quin even said it in an interview. So that is someone who can pass/defend/shoot/rebound/playmake. Obviously you cant just find that in FA for a reasonable price, so I think the Jazz will probably look to a legit stretch big to sign.

I could see the Jazz going after Leur, that's a possibility. Donatas or Leonard? No way, both are RFA and would cost too much to pry away. Donatas might be a possibility though because Houston might have too much money tied up in Howard/Harden (idk). That would be a great addition since he is basically a good version of what we want Pleiss to be.

I still hold to Ryan Anderson as being the best fit. He can't do all the other stuff we want, but he can damn sure hit a 3. Obviously this is price dependent, but how much do we think he will really cost? Maybe I'm underrating his $$$ value because of his injury history. Surely no one would want to sign him to be a starter. I guess Detroit is a very sensible landing place for him and maybe SVG throws the $$$ at him since he is the Coach and GM.

Also agree Harkless would be a good addition and an upgrade over Millsap.

Jeff Green also interest me as potential value grab as a backup 3 who could play small ball 4. I know he isn't that good, but he seems like one of those guys who everyone agrees was wildly overrated and might end up getting undervalued in FA. That might be a terrible idea, but I'm talking if he is <4,000,000 a year.

Also no idea why anyone thinks David Lee is going to be looking for a big contract, he has been putting up terrible numbers. I suggested him as a potential low cost add. He is a great passer that would probably intrigue Quin.

Or maybe Trey Lyles really comes on in the 2nd half and the Jazz stand pat again and just draft a wing prospect who they develop instead of signing vets.

Courtney Lee?
Matthew Dellavedova?
Ryan Anderson?

Lee would give more scoring punch off the bench and help if we continue to play a fair bit of the three wing line up (replace Johnson), Delly would replace Milsap, difference being he can handle the ball, pass and will knock down the three ball at a better rate. Whilst Anderson would give us a legit three point shooter at the 4, but would most likely mean the end of Booker and thus a possible lack of muscle in the team.

Whiteside would obviously involve some tinkering, Here's an idea I like.

Sign Whiteside and start him at PF..

Trade Favors, Hayward and Neto for Paul George and George Hill... Have an open competition for the starting PG spot, if Exum wins, put George Hill on the trading block... With Exum, another 1st round pick, and another FA -- Lets say Eric Gordon(short deal with a player option), I'd say this squad wins 50 games in the west and competes for homecourt advantage in the first rd.

Hill/ Dante / Burke
Gordon / Burks / (Hood/1st rd pick??)
George / Hood / Ingles
Whiteside / Lyles / 2nd rd pick/Jeff Ayers??
Gobert / (Pleiss/Whiteside/Lyles)/ 2nd rd pick/Jeff Ayers??

As long as Whiteside is more productive than Favors, it's a net gain, Whiteside is certainly a better roll man on a P&R so IMO it works. Whiteside is also more athletic than Favors, I don't think the transition to PF would be all that tough for him, I like how he matches up vs some of the wests best PF's tbh.

Paul George is signed for 1 more year than Hayward - I'd say the defense would get better with George and Whiteside over Hayward and Favors.. With Eric Gordon shooting 3's, there's more floor spacing, especially if the PG's are shooting the 3 well.

Dunno what Cy wrote. Safe bet its something negative.

That idea adds a solid 1st option offense in George, it adds to the defense and adds to the rebounding. George is also signed for 1 more year than Hay.

Rudy and Whiteside are the premier shot blockers in the league, they'd be Twin towers, and Hassan is athletic enough to guard 4's so it works, Whiteside would probably still shoot near 60% from the field as a PF.

The 2nd unit is loaded..

George Hill and Eric Gordon add proven 3pt shooting. If you shoot 3's like that team would be capable of, and guard the rim/rebound like that team would be capable of, with Paul George defending the other teams best wing.. you win a lot of games in the NBA - 50 easy. The Pacers might actually take that trade if the wheels fall off too..

Even those who complain about Trey Lyles as the backup PF could be appeased by using the 1st round pick to take another big.

Bradley Beal....it will probably take the max and The Wiz may still match but it's time for the FO to shake the cobwebs out of their wallet.
