The NBA's all-time leader in assists and steals, Stockton led the NBA in assists per game for nine consecutive seasons between 1987 and 1996. No other player in NBA history has led the NBA in assists per game for nine seasons total. Stockton would still be the NBA's all-time assist leader even if he had not played his final six seasons.

In the first season after Michael Jordan's retirement, Pippen finished third in MVP voting and led the Bulls to 55 wins, just two fewer victories than in the previous season with Jordan.

In the past 50 seasons, Barkley and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the only players to average 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in a single season. Barkley did so on his way to winning the MVP in 1992-93 with the Suns.

SPACING

Stockton shot 40.7%, 41.6%, 42.2%, 42.2%, 42.9%, 44.9%, and 46.2% from 3 in seven different seasons.

Pierce shot 40.4% on 6.3 attempts, 41.2% on 4.3 attempts and 41.4% on 3.7 attempts in his three best years from 3.

Pippen shot 37.4% on 5.2 attempts a game in his best year from 3.

Carmelo shot 40.2% on 5.4 attempts a game in his best year from 3.

Iguodala shot 39.4% on 3.1 attempts a game in his all-star season.

DEFENSE

Stockton - Pippen - Iguodala

17 All-NBA Defensive Teams

All-Time Steals Leader

3 x Steals Leader

Mourning - Camby

6 All-NBA Defensive Teams

3 x DPOY

6 x Blocks Leader

These two will be the primary defenders against Olajuwon.

MATCHUPS

I don't see any way how you can say I don't beat his starters 3-2.

Stockton/Pippen/Barkley are all better than their counterparts Williams/Mullin/Kemp.

Carmelo is the best 6th man in this tournament and having him as a weapon off the bench is deadly.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Alonzo Mourning and Hakeem Olajuwon have played each other 15 times during the course of their careers. Here are their averages against each other:

Olajuwon - 16.7 PPG (13.9 FGA), 8.9 RPG, 2.7 APG, 2.5 BPG and 48.3% from the field.
Mourning - 15.5 PPG (10.9 FGA), 9.8 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.9 BPG and 48.5% from the field.

As you can see their stats are almost identical. Mourning held his own against Olajuwon when they played against one another.

DEFENSIVE STRATEGY

Spy does have Jordan and Olajuwon but I have two very good defenders to go toe-to-toe with them. I have him beat at PG/SF/PF and his bench is extremely bad.

Stockton would guard Williams, Pierce would guard Mullin, and Barkley would guard Kemp.

Pippen is one of the best defenders to ever play the game of basketball and might have been the best defender against Jordan had they not been on the same team. As you can see in the stats above Mourning held Olajuwon to a 16.7 PPG average on 13.9 FGA when they played each other and he would be the primary defender on him.

PREVIOUSLY ON GAMEZ OF JAZZFANZ...

JustTheTip, not knowing the consequences, created a team of monsters that would later be named the Dream Goats:

In all seriousness though...

D-Will < Stockton
Jordan > Pippen
Mullin = Pierce
Kemp < Barkley
Olajuwon > Mourning

I think WC has a good team. The starters are an even advantage at 2-2, and both teams have adequate spacing and defense. The difference is the same as always: my team has the two best players in the series. How many times has a team lost a series when they not only have the best player but the two best players? Jordan and Olajuwon won 8 consecutive Finals MVPs during the 90s; WC's starters have a total of 1 Finals MVP awarded to them. When Barkley is your #1 option, I don't think you have enough to overcome a duo like MJ/Hakeem.

The best players win.

Gotta go with spy and the two biggest pain in the asses to my 90's jazz fandom. Olajuwon and MJ. I don't like either bench. But spycam has the two best players in the matchup so he wins. Yes Stockton and Barkley would a formidable duo. But neither of those guys beat Jordan or Olajuwon. And now I feel sad because neither of those guys beat Jordan or Olajuwon. *weeps incessantly*

Except for Jordan and Olajuwon, nearly every player on WC's team is better than their counterpart.

I think the important question is, would Pippen take Jordan out for ALLLLLL the drinks the night before? Would it matter?

I've said it before, outside MJ and Kareem I don't like Spy's team at all. I agree that Spy has the best 2 players on the court but WC may have the next 6, he's made a decent enough argument that Alonzo can negate Hakeem and imo Pippen is the best option for MJ.

I'm going with WC.

Sidenote: Cy built the best team imo, shocked he didn't make it to the finals.

This.

I think it's an extremely close matchup but I would win.

I really couldn't have said it better myself.

If WC had a better bench I might try to fool myself to believe that. But he has Baron Davis(puke!), Derrick Coleman(puke!), and Carmelo Anthony(double puke!)

They're all great players. I mean, I wouldn't want to hang out with them or anything, and you wouldn't win with them as your primary option, but they can definitely ball.
