2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

I’d much rather have Hunter, Collins and 16.

It depends how much you like Hunter and Collins, but yeah, that makes sense. Collins is also signed long-term, and Hunter would be restricted in free agency.

I'm fixated on a top-8 pick, I guess. Good prospects will be there at #16 though.

I'm coming around on Nikola Jovic. He needs to work on his body, and he may never be more than an average defender, but his ball skills, fluidity and feel for the game for a 6'9" wing are pretty special. Also, he's still 18 years old. I honestly think he could probably play at the 2. Fantastic pick in the mid-1st and onward. I think he's going to be a killer.

Look at the play he makes in isolation at 0:54

If the Jazz goes the unfortunate way and keep only Mitchell, Jazz should draft Jalen Williams. I don't know how well he will put together his game at the NBA level but he has an unique body/skillset combo that could fit well next to Mitchell. The current hype feels questionable and his draft seems to be volatile. I doubt I will have time to delve deeper this year but it's intriguing at least. Not many players with +8 wingspan.

I would be more keen to rebuild around Mitchell if I had some sort of guarantee that he would bear with losing season for 2-3 years and let Jazz develop young pieces alongside him. That would be much more healthy way to aim for improvement and probably leave us in a better place when Mitchell asks to be traded or leaves.

How do yall feel about the big dude out of Auburn?

He actually looks like he could be Rudy-lite.

The block rate is insane... like bonkers. I think he will get smoked on the perimeter. Maybe Brook Lopez without the jumper (yet) is a better comp.

He's a better prospect than Udoka or Bradley for sure. If we have a pick in the 20s I'd be okay taking him. The hate might have gone too far on bigs.

He's like Poeltl with quicker feet.

burh Poetl was never known for blocking shots. That's some racial comp if I;ve ever seen one
I really think Whiteside is the closest comp. Both guys had bonkers college block numbers. I think he will be slower footed than Poetl…

It's more a comp of their size, length and athleticism. Both 7'1" / 240 lbs with a mediocre wingspan and average touch around the rim. But Kessler moves better. Kessler has advanced feel and timing challenging shots that Poeltl doesn't seem to have.

Whiteside is super long.

Edit: There are conflicting reports about Kessler's wingspan. I guess we'll see at the Combine.

I'm really curious about Nikola Jovic. He might be someone who could be really special on the ball in Quin Snyder's offense. He's got the size and vision to make any pass on the floor, and he has 3-level shooting touch. He really stands out as someone who might go outside the top-15, but could really be an impact player for the Jazz.

When did a 7'5 wingspan on a 7' body become mediocre?
