2024-2025 Tank Race

Isn't a year of unwatchable basketball worth it for that 14%? Especially since no long term full bore tanking team has won a title in 20 years?
The Warriors won a title two years ago. The best team in the NBA and potential dynasty tanked two years ago.

Was the tanking the reason for that title?
I'll save the trouble. Their two best players were legitimately injured during COVID year and they drafted James Wiseman who contributed a grand total of zero minutes played during the Warriors championship run, so tanking did absolutely nothing for their championship run.

FWIW, I think our biggest problem is that we only have one guy on our team that needs to be guarded above the free throw line. Our spacing is just bad. If guys start hitting above the break 3s our offense will look a lot better. The guys I have the most confidence in getting there are Juzang and Brice. We should probably get them more shots.

Based on what I know JHS would at least offer a different type of guard into the rotation. He also has way more size than Sexton, Keyonte and Collier.

Also since we have the worst shooting team in the league, he will feel right at home here.

Is it fair to question who is actually tanking besides us? I dont see much in terms of shenanigans in Brooklyn, Detroit or Portland. Washington has obviously played their young guys a ton and have more or less lucked out to 2 wins (mainly due to both wins coming against Hawks who are between mid and garbage as a team).

Scoot usage and minutes are down from last season, which is sort of a weird development for a #2 pick... but even weirder if you are actually trying to get a high draft pick.

Teams don't typically lose on purpose until after the trade deadline. At the beginning of the season everyone is frisky and bad teams don't know that they are bad yet. Eventually some of the bad teams will have their will broken and go on losing streaks. Then post trade deadline you'll start to see teams sit guys out, etc.

So.... we are not tanking but just failing to be frisky is what you are saying?

Brooklyn already winning 4 games is interesting. That franchise clearly wants to lose. I wonder how long they will go until they start selling stuff off.

Thats my point (in the previous posts). Nets are leaning on the vets and Dariq Whitehead and some other young guys they have have barely sniffed the court.

Their minutes leaders:
#1 Schroeder (31 yo)
#2 Thomas (23 yo)
#3 Johnson (28 yo)
#4 DFS (31 yo)
#5 Simmons (28 yo)

Ofc that lineup is gonna do way better than one that starts Keyonte, Cody and Flip/Hendricks (all under 21). They arent doing what we are doing.

What Cam Thomas gets paid will be fascinating.

There are 41 players who are under the age of 21 and have made an appearance in NBA this season.

The top 20 in minutes per game (14.9 mpg or more) on that list includes:
4 Wizards (116 mpg)
4 Jazzmen (96 mpg*)
2 Spurs (51 mpg)

No other team has more than one U21 guy getting significant minutes. Portland has 2 guys just putside top 20, and they give out about as many youth minutes as Spurs.

*Jazz list includes Flip at 14.9, mpg whose minutes got bumped after TH injury.
