Wow mellow!! That's pretty messed up!! No matter how you feel about the whole Deron situation!! He was quite the baller and gave us great memories!! Man up and fix this!

Hall-of-Famer Walt Bellamy played in 1 game for the Jazz in 1974-75. I'm not even sure what game it was. He wore #8 for his entire career, and in the 1968-69 season, due to the schedule and being traded, he managed to play in 88 regular season games.

Bellamy's 88 games in a season is an NBA record. In the ABA, Charles Williams played 88 games in the 1970-71 season. The team he finished with that season, the Memphis Pros, finished 8th in the ABA in 3P%. Also in the ABA, Chuck Williams (no relation) played 90 games in the 1973-74 season. He finished the season with Kentucky Colonels and in his time with them that season he averaged 8.8 ppg.

Deron Williams was drafted at #3 overall by the Jazz in the 2005 draft. The Jazz acquired that pick from Portland by sending 3 picks to the Trailblazers. With those picks, Portland selected (in no particular order) Linas Kleiza, Martell Webster, and Joel Freeland. Kleiza (who is listed a 6-8), was immediately traded to the Nuggets where he played 8.5 mpg his rookie season. Portland got Jarrett Jack in that trade. Jack will be with the Warriors in 2012-13 for his 8th NBA season. Martell Webster wore #8 in his first four seasons with Portland. Freeland has been in Europe and just signed with Portland this off-season. He'll wear #19 (9-1=8). This post is cluttered, so I'll pad my post count and make a new one about actual D-Will info.

D-Will is currently at #8 on the all-time Jazz scoring list. He had 8 or more assists with the Jazz 319 times. He had one game with the Jazz when he had exactly 8 points and 8 assists. CJ Miles also scored 8 points that game. In the 2007 playoffs, the Jazz lost 8 playoff games (while winning 9). D-Will had exactly 8 assists 4 times in that playoff run, including the only Jazz win in the conference finals. That game went so well that even Jarron Collins had a +/- of +8.

D-Will had 5 games with the Jazz with 8 or more turnovers. In one of those games he also recorded 8 assists and the Jazz easily beat the Wizards who scored 88 points.

Josh Howard had played 8 seasons before signing with the Jazz. With the Jazz he averaged 8.7 ppg. He scored 8 or more points 27 times counting the playoffs. He attempted 8 or more FG's 25 times. Unfortunately, these 25 games didn't always coincide with him scoring 8 or more points. In one game when Howard scored 8 or more points (vs the Cavs on January 10), the Jazz won by 8. In that game, Anthony Parker scored 8 for the Cavs. On the Jazz side, Devin Harris had a +/- of +8, Miles had 8 FGAs, and Hayward had 8 assists.

In their 8th season (1981-82), the Jazz were 8th in the league in FT%, PFs, and opponent steals. They lost their 8th game of the season to the Houston Rockets who were 8th in the league in total attendance. Rickey Green and Carl Nicks each had 8 points for the Jazz.

When playing on the 8th, the Jazz had a 1-1 record playing on the 8th. In games decided by exactly 8 points, the Jazz had a record of 2-2. Also, Tom Nissalke was the coach for the first 20 games of the season. The Jazz won 8 of those games.

In their 8th season in Utah (1986-87), the Jazz were 8th in the league in defensive rebounds. They lost their 8th game of the season and went 2-0 when playing on the 8th. In games decided by exactly 8 points the Jazz went 2-2.

Yes, it was shallow and petty. Yes, he was a notable player for the Jazz for several seasons. Yes, I should be better than that. Yes, the Jazz are better off because of him. Yes, there was no easy way that Jerry was ever going to leave. No, I wouldn't change it.

I'm glad that others were better than me and could post something about him.
