A Couple of Candidates for a Two Way Contract?

The Jazz need to put some talent with the Stars. I know the salaries mostly suck but the last year in Boise they were horrible for a DLeague team and I don't think things improved last year.

gleague players are more or less meaningless until the gleague becomes an official development league for each NBA team. So that teams can actually see potential talent and lock them up 2 or 3 years in hopes that they will help their NBA team down the road.

Right now other then the 2 way contracts it doesn't mean any thing. Bolomboy needs mroe time in the gleague but the Jazz are running out of roster space and he is not ready to make the NBA.

I don't think there is a reason to discuss other options. Our two way contracts are fairly set in stone it seems. Eric Griffin already agreed to one and Nigel Williams Goss is a near lock to get the other.

I think a PG is a lock with the other 2-way contract as the Jazz have enough wings and bigs. But I don't necessarily think NWG is a lock. TBH, it almost sounded like a Burke situation. DL gave credit to Stockton and I believe said the analytics team liked NGW. Almost as if he was trying to distance himself from the pick.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the 2-way contract remain open through training camp. DL might wait for other teams' cuts before making an offer to someone. NGW could be offered a regular GLeague deal if he doesn't impress in training camp.

It hasn't been the Jazz m.o. to draft someone and then drop their rights in the same offseason. They've been drafting second rounders and keeping their rights for at least a season. Over the last few years they were sending some of them overseas. But that's no longer necessary with two way contracts. DL and Quin were both happy after the selection. It sounded like it was a group consensus not just Stockton's opinion or the analytics team liking him.

You can never have enough wings. Wings now play 3/5 of the spots on the court.

Sure, they were "happy" after the selection. But were they happy after summer league? They could still offer NWG a regular GLeague contract with the Stars - or encourage him to go overseas - and use the 2-way for someone else. With only two PG's guaranteed to be on the roster (Neto unguaranteed but likely), I think Utah wants a PG who could play if called up. I don't see that with NWG. There's no rush, though. NWG is Utah's property until at least the end of training camp.

The Jazz are probably trying to have a training camp battle for the last two way contract to provide incentive for talent to accept a training camp invite.
