A simple reason we don't need Jabri

Should Jabari be a top 3 pick in the 2014 draft?

This thread might not even be relevant by the end of the day (seeing Jabari might stay at Duke) but didn't we already have a big who could score 20 PPG but couldn't play defense? Jefferson... How'd that work out? plus he'd be undersized...

Though I hope Jabari declares, I would like to officially declare I am off the Jabari Bandwagon as a top 3 pick.

The Start of My big board looks as follows:

Wiggins
Exum
Embiid
Gordon (If he's 6'9... Parker if Gordon is 6'8)

Ya'll should not have Parker in your top 3 either.

He seems like a great kid and all but...

So an inch of difference in height is really enough to make you choose one guy over the other?

LOL

Has anyone realized that as much crap Carmello gets, this will be his first year missing the playoffs?

You give him the right cast and coach and he could easily be MVP.

You give me a Carmello that would try to pass and play defense (Parker)...wow, that would be a very special player.

When has Parker proven he tries to pass or play defense?

Did you not see Parker's games? Coach K had to play offense-defense w/ Parker in close late games because he couldn't even guard unathletic, slow, college centers who were smaller than him.

Also, Carmello was a better passer than Jabari was in college. Per 40 Melo put up 2.2 AST on 2.2 TOV, while Parker put up 1.5 AST on 3.0 TOV. To put that in perspective, Kanter, who is considered a bad passer averages 1.3 AST on 2.3 TOV.

Parker is a liability. Slow, non passing, non defending, tweener who struggles with weight.

Last I checked Big Owl never averaged 20 points for Utah.

Another thing to consider is that Favors is the 40th best defensive center in the league this year based on statistics. I know other factors come into play but as Locke pointed out, this might be because Favors is undersized to play the 5. This would of course mean that Playing Jabri at the 4 and favors at the 5 would only spell disaster.

More Rudy please.

I was listening to Dennis Lindsey's interviews archived on 1280, and he was saying how are defense worked best when Favors was under the rim, but that was ultimately the role he sees Gobert filling for us. He also saud he was and is very high on Kanter (this is back in Jan when Kanter was struggling), and said that it was on him as the GM to surround him with other teammates who can play team defense. Favors either needs to become much better offensively, or he probably won't be a starter or on our team when we make our championship run.

Agree with DL: seems like Gobert/Kanter is a better match than Favors/Kanter or Favors/Gobert.
