I was not at all bullish on Ochai, but trading him and KO for a late 1st in a bad draft felt like a not great move. Especially since the only way you could sell that was the tanking implications and we used that pick to draft - what is to date, anyway - one of the biggest busts in franchise history.

It's an asset management question: KO + (a now useful) Agbaji for Isaiah Collier doesn't look great - although Collier is 4.5 years younger than Ochai.

This is year 3 since tearing down the previous team, and there aren't many positives to date - whether you actually enjoy watching basketball or only pay attention to transactions and championship potential.

I have said before, I am fine with tanking and fine with rebuilding but there is zero sense to the timeline and process this FO has used to do so. What we are doing right now should have been year 1 or we should have hung on to one of our All Stars and built around them - which was very doable.

Update: Agbaji keeps playing very, very well. He is now the guy with the 6th best 3PT% in the NBA, producing 12 PPG (54% - 49%) and 4.5 RPG. He also markedly improved his assist and steal count while still being very low on on turnovers. And Ochai still plays a very good defense.

This season Agbaji became one of the best 3-and-D guys in the NBA. Which is especially funny since now our expectations (hopes?) are that if everything goes right Cody Williams can - in a couple of years - become someone like Ochai.

Gotta love those crystal balls.
