Thee jazz fan's case:

Russell/West
West/Gervin/Richmond/Rip
Worthy/English
Durant/Pettit//Nance
Wilt/Cousins/Nance

We will be a half court team that takes every opportunity to run on the fast break with guys like West, Westbrook, Worthy, and Wilt. No way Shaq can run with Wilt.

Normally I would have West as my starting pg, but I feel I have to put Curry in his place. I'm putting the quicker stronger more athletic pg in Westbrook on Curry. Westbrook is an absolute bulldog and competitor who isn't afraid of anyone, least of all Steph Curry. At the very least Westbrook will make life on the court very uncomfortable. Westbrook will wear Curry out on both ends of the court.

How is Curry going to stop this?

At the other end of the spectrum, we have Wilt and Shaq. Two of the most dominating and imposing bigs in the game. However. Shaq never bothered to be in tip top shape. This was no problem for Wilt as he was big and strong while being in tip top physical health he will run Shaq to death In Wilts day it was common for him to play a 45 mins a game for a large stretch of games. By the 4th quarter Wilt will still be fresh with energy to spare while Shaq is struggling to keep up with Wilt, who by this time would be struggling to catch his breath trying to stop Wilt who would probably have 50 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. Edge Wilt.

This vid shows wilt next to Shaq just to prove the shape Wilt was in as an older former player standing next to Shaq

West vs Ray Allen isn't even a discussion. West is a top 3-5 Sg in any era, and every bit the shooter Allen is. Just because West didn't play with a 3pt line doesn't mean he couldn't pull up from 25 feet and drain 3 in a row. West isn't the logo for nothing. West would take Allen off the dribble or pull up for three on him at any time edge West.

Shows Wests Elite defense and clutchness

The closer Kevin Durant. The most dangerous offensive player in the game today. As good as Davis is, he's not at Durants level yet. No one is. Probably the most unique player to grace an NBA floor. For a 6-10 player he can get it done anywhere on the court inside or outside with his elite guard skills. He can pull up from 30 feet if he needs to and possesses pinpoint accuracy from a distance. As good as Davis is he will spend most of his energy guarding Durant on the perimeter and in the post. Advantage Durant.

Last but but certainly not least and not forgotten. Big game James. Worthy always saved his best performances for the biggest games in the playoffs. Standing at 6-9 225lb's after LBJ is one of the most physically gifted and athletic sf's to play the game. In this competition Klay has no shot. This is a complete and utter mismatch. Thompson is smaller weaker and would be dismantled in the post, and is a better runner in the open court and on the break. Advantage Big Game James.

This is a scary and filthy starting 5 that will utterly dominate even the best all defensive starting 5's. 4 of my five Starters are elite offensive starters that absolutely dominate no matter who is guarding them in west Westbrook Durant and Wilt. Put Worthy with in a lineup with guys like West, Westbrook and Durant much like him being paired with Magic Worthys Athletic skills will be used to the fullest and none of these guys are liabilities on defense. This teams defense while not the best, it's still way above average, and pairing this defense with my elite of elite offense. I'm not sure this team can be beat

My backups.

Yes I have West starting, but he will also serve as the backup pg. so he will be pulled early in the first Quarter to play backup pg, but won't play much there as Westbrook can and will play 38-42 mins a game.

Shooters Richmond Rip, and Pettit. Pettit had a great outside shot. Most probably don't know this

Video of Pettit shooting outside shots

English is one of the most prolific scorers coming off my bench top scorer in the 80's and most unstoppable midrange games ever.

Nance is easily a top five dunker and one of the great athletes in the game who also had a nice mid range game, and if hack wants to play small ball, Mantz is my Draymond Green

When Wilt Comes out the defense still doesn't get a break as Cousins in his own right will beast in the low post.

The Iceman just another elite scorer off my bench was a smooth athletic long guard with the best array of floaters and a sweet finger roll in the paint. Hack doesn't have anyone on his bench that can match up with the iceman.

Overall my bench is more skilled and accomplished, and has more experience then Hacks bench.

I have to go with Hack. Better balance to his team. Superior outside and inside game. Better synergy between his players.

Not sure if I really like having Durant as the starting 4, I think that'd really hurt team defense.

U realize Durant is guarding Davis and not Karl Malone right? And Durant isn't a defensive beast but he's above average. Durant is a mismatch for whoever guards him

Not sure about Thee's last second decision to start Westbrook at the PG.

West and Gervin would have been fine, then you have Westbrook as the ultimate 6th man.

Too many options at shooting guard to move a point guard over to start.

Was worried about voters thinking Curry the current MVP torching West. I'm sure people don't realize how good a defender West was. Westbrook was a triple double waiting to happen and more then capable of bothering Curry. Just has that type mentality he's not afraid of anyone and truly believes he's the best in the world. And a disruptive force against Curry

Hack team is fun. I dont think Ray Allen, Klay Thompson or Anthony Davis belong in starter category in this game. These are the greatest of all time players. Those three were not the best of their generation. Anthony might become that but not yet. The centers is close but wilt is the better player on both ends of the court. Its kind of a push at PG for me. I do like the camp Shaq and shoot strategy but its not like Wilt is going to get pushed around so that kind of throws this strategy off when he doesnt demand a double team. Not sure about Durant starting but there is enough flexibility with the team to play what is working.

I am guessing Hack will win though because he has all current or recent players. But Klay, Wiggins, Favors and Horry are not players that should have been drafted when we are talking about the greatest of all time players. Outside of Shaq those starters are meh as far as best of all time at their positions and Wilt is better than Shaq.

Worthy is severely under-rated on this board. He was a true star, and could take over a game at will. He earned his name Big Game James. When push came to shove there wouldn't be anyone to focus enough on Worthy to slow him down, imo. Have to give this to TJF.

I'm voting Hack just because he's usually the most creative and gives a compelling case. Haven't looked at the teams tho.

What?

How can you say Ray Allen or Anthony Davis don't belong as starters?

Davis is a top5, maybe top 2 player in the game today. Just because he doesn't have a long resume, doesn't mean his game isn't legit.

Was Worthy a top5 player ever? I don't remember that he was.

Ray Allen is arguably the best shooter ever. Put up monster numbers. Made numerous all star games.

I haven't voted, but my choice would be Hack's team.
Although Shaq would be gassed after about 2 minutes trying to run with that team.

We have recency bias against players being shifted out of position. TBH, I'm not super impressed by either team, except for the battle at the 5. It would be fun to see Shaq in his prime face Wilt. That would be a war! Even with the Westbrook/West problem at PG and Durant at the 4, I'll take Thee's team. Give Hack's team a few more years to grow up and that might change. Like others I have a problem with voting for Klay, Wiggins, etc. because they just haven't been stars long enough.

He also said he wasn't sure about Durant starting... smh
