America’s Team is the Utah Jazz — America just doesn’t know it yet. Every season, there is one 50-win team out West that plays really, really well but nobody ever sees or thinks about; this year, that would be the Jazz.
At the moment, Utah’s starting lineup is Gordon Hayward, Joe Ingles, Boris Diaw, Rudy Gobert and Dante Exum; at the moment, Utah’s congressmen and junior U.S. senator are Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart, Mia Love, Jason Chaffetz and Mike Lee. You could switch these two lists and no one would know the difference.
Footnote: Two Jazz starters are Australian, two are French — because of the shifting political climate of late, they usually are “rested” when the team travels to play the Raptors in Toronto, for fear they might not get back into the country.
