What's new

An Ambitious Core

Not sayng you're wrng but I'm not sure I agree. I'd rather pay Crabbe 4 years/56M than Blazemore 4 years/72M or thereabouts.

I actually wasn't suggesting they sign either guy. If I were DL, my top two targets are DeMar DeRozan and Pau Gasol. Draft for upside and then try to go big in free agency.

Gobert, Favors, Lyles, Hayward, DeRozan, Hood and Exum (with Burks and Gasol to boot). That's an ambitious offseason.

I never said those guys made the Jazz contender's by themselves. I said they would help depth and build a squad to where they could contend.

yall get offended way too easily.

This is just (A) way I think the Jazz could create depth and pieces to move around in the future.

If you don't think DL stays up late throwing around different, maybe even crazy ideas of how to make the team better, you are crazy.

Jazz had one of the worst benches in the league last year. A healthy Burks and Exum helps with that, but none of the guys listed will move the needle any more than keeping Booker. Jazz need to aim higher if they want to make the playoffs and actually do something.

To be a contender, they need a star. Depth won't do much to move them that way (unless the depth they add are starter quality.)

So you sign Gasol and DeRozan and tell Rudy and Hood they are going to the bench. So now you've pissed off two of your better players. It doesn't really matter because I highly doubt Gasol or DeRozan would sign here.

This offseason is going to be fun to watch. Money is going to be spent in piles. There are a few ways the jazz could build this summer

1 - persure a big name free agent selling them on growing with this unit. People like conley, derozan and batum. The jazz have to spend some money this offseason.

2 - keep baking the cake. Keep everyone in tact and over pay for a vet leader like dudley or bazemore.

3 - there are those that see a major move like trading hayward or favors to bring in the potential star young stud. This is the gamble. It could pay off or put the jazz in rebuild mode again.

4 - the talent swap is also a way to build. The jazz trade away a solid player for maybe an under performing young player. Like a burks for avery type of deal. This is a calculated gamble. If burks comes back stays healthy and explodes the jazz will look bad.

5 - last but not least is to do what the jazz are doing. Work with what we have add talent in the draft and hope they find their thompson or green or gobert.

Winning games, a lot of games, cures a lot of ills.

After losing to the Clippers last year, I'm not worried about pissing off players. Gobert and Hood aren't good enough to worry about pissing off. If you can get Gasol and DeRozan, you piss off Gobert and Hood because both those players are better.

Screw making players happy. Go freaking win, then bitch.

Ric Bucher said he thinks Love could be had for a couple of wings. How about Burks, Burke, and some picks for Love? That gives Cleveland a wing, #12 for another wing, and a ton of cap space for another max player.

Exum/Mack
Hood
Hayward
Love/Lyles
Favors/Gobert

I still believe Love can give you 20 and 10. He'd open up the floor for us big time. He would make Favors and Exum better. He'd give Gobert more space to work.

The last time I wanted a PF from another team this badly, I wanted Boozer from Cleveland. Love fits everything we need.

Then, still go get a starting wing and a backup wing. Improve the bench. If you can move Hood to the bench, then you've suddenly gotten a lot better.
