Anti establishment vote in GOP primary

Interesting trend in GOP Primary...

A few polls, post debate, show very interesting numbers...

NBC/Surveymonkey, (attached) shows top 4... not your father's GOP... or maybe it is, but it's not the current GOP power base... Trump 23%, Cruz 13%, Carson 11% and Fiorina 8%... So, 55%, at this time, are choosing someone who is not a politician, or someone who is clearly against the establishment (Cruz)...

Similar trend in the Iowa poll, with Walker in 2nd (neighboring state) and Rubio 3rd, but 4 of the top 6, and 40% of the poll is anti establishment.

Not only has Trump tapped into something... seems some others have too.

Winds of change?

Give me a minute here... a few larger images to add:

The most important part of the second image is the 20% that are undecided. I doubt many of them vote for Trump. Further a lot of those people are going to change their mind. When is the last time the republicans nominated an anti-establishment presidential candidate? Trump won't win the nomination, book it.

Reagan?

I don't believe Trump will hold it together for 3, let alone 15 months... could be wrong, but my guess.
But, it surprises the heck out of me that the majority in one poll, and 40% in the other, are choosing outsiders.
So, if Reagan was not anti-establishment... when was the last time? Feeling like 2016.

Reagan WAS anti-establishment. I guess you could say John McCain as well, he has since become VERY establishment, however.

+1, (again) for Reagan.
And... good point on McCain, but I would NOT say he was anti-establishment. He carried the 'maverick' moniker, but I never saw it. And his association with Graham is more than I can bear... they're so much the problem now...

Reagan was the Governor of California as well as a fairly mainstream republican. I don't think he was anti-establishment. Lincoln but I don't think that counts. Barry Goldwater maybe. He was a Senator but his views were way outside of established policy and he got his *** handed to him by LBJ. Other than that I can't think of any.

Outsiders looked good early on last time too, but Mittens eventually got the nomination.

What the hell are you people talking about?

Reagan was clearly an establishment republican. Governor of California very rich ties to rich companies... McCain is the definition of an establishment republican. He's been in DC longer than DC has been on this continent.

ike was probably the last non-establishment repub to be president. Before that you'd have to look at someone like TR. TR ruffled feathers, was definitely not a party man, and was a bit of a loose cannon.

Both Trump and Sanders are tapping into the anger towards establishment politicians who do nothing and super pacs. It's no surprise that they're surging with support.

This is the most balanced and reasonable post you have ever made with a political theme. And I thought you were just a sputtering left-wing fanatic psycho. Good job!

A+ on Reagan being Gov, etc. But through today's eyes, he was anti current bureaucracy.

Don't know if Sanders is tapping anti establishment anger... while he's 'Independent'... that's just because we don't have a Socialist party in US... Think he's tapping anti corporate/more government (dare I say, the antithesis of Cruz/Carson/Fiorina), and anti Hillary/anti coronation feelings...
