The Washington Wizards have waived the three players acquired with Marcin Gortat in last week's trade with the Phoenix Suns.

The Wizards announced Monday that they have cut ties with guards Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall.

The moves were expected. Marshall, Brown and Lee were included in the trade so that it would work financially under NBA rules.

The Wizards received center Gortat and the three players in exchange for injured center Emeka Okafor and a protected first-round draft pick.

I say let the team ride as is unless something comes along that clearly improves the team while supporting the goal of building for the future. Those three players do not fit that.

Marshall was the 13th player taken in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft and is still just 22. He must have been dreadful in the preseason with Phoenix.

Prior to the Tinsley pick up, I would have went for Kendall Marshall. 6'4" assist machine. Can't shoot, but neither can Tinsley.

Yeah, Marshall would have been a good gamble but there isn't room and I approve of Tinsley mentoring Burke. (wish we had just gotten him first instead of JLIII)

If Hornecek didn't see anything in Marshall, then I see little reason to believe his former front office would. I'm surprised he busted so hard.

The guy is still a pup and he was the 13th player taken in last year's draft and has great collegiate blood lines.
