Are #14 picks really worthless?

Of course every player has flaws.. but your argument just supported mine. Boozer was so bad defensively that we got bounced from the playoffs numerous times against the lakers. He also lacked size down low.

That's why we got Jefferson. He also had his flaws but I believe KOC did his best given the cards we had to play with (we were never going to get Howard, Bosh, etc, etc).

You're speaking like we're NY or the Lakers or something. News flash, we're Utah, no quality FA was ever going to come here out of his own free will.

That doesn't mean you sign bad contracts or make bad trades. That's the problem with the Jazz they are so desperate to be the 8th seed every year. They, like some people, fail to see the value of being bad and drafting high. Seriously, what is the point of being mediocre? To rake in all the suckers who don't know basketball and will believe you actually have a chance when you don't? Im convinced now that the Jazz and most of it's fans are quite ok with never winning a championship and just being perrenial playoff makers.

I would never take on a contract of a guy who is fools gold. A guy who gets his and doesn't do anything else. If I was owner of the team, there is now way I pay some fool millions of dollars to watch him play lazy defense and not give a ****. I don't care if it nets me 2 playoffs games or not. Im not doing it. I would rather meet the cap minimum by paying some scrappy hustler types high contracts for 1 year deals. I bet you would be more entertaining anyways. I would just do that every year until I find the right guys. The Jazz seem like they are always hoping that maybe they could do it if just all the top teams suffer massive injuries. That is the Jazz way of thinking about things.

Again I say, KOC should have known Al would not be a good fit. Heck all of Minnesota knew. Why didn't he just ask one person there? And why didn't he wonder why Minnesota of all team were happy to ship him off?

Jefferson was worth a shot.
He has run his course.
Nothing more to it. Get has much as you can for him now that you have some awesome youth behind him (which you didn't have when he was signed).
What's confusing here?

The ****ty thing about trading for picks is that they are always overvalued before the draft. Try trading for the guy who is drafted #14 a year from now and it is probably way easier than getting the 14th pick.

He was one player Deron approved AND we could get via trade at the time.

If you think KOC could have done better under that circumstance, may be you should apply for the GM job with Greg Miller.

Let me know how you get on. (I'm serious)

You never know, I might become GM of the Jazz. And we agree that its possible so we will see. If I am GM I am also going to change the name to bluesrockers.

nope, they're not worthless. In fact they have a value that is very attainable with the assets we have to trade.

Don't forget that the final push this season certainly increased the value of Jefferson and Harris, who both have expiring deals next year.

There trade value goes down if the Jazz are swept and they were major contributors to why they lost. Teams interested in Jefferson and Harris look more at how they play in the playoffs than the regular seasons. We need both guys to step it up so there will be interest in them this off season.

I agree with you 100 percent. It is the most frustrating thing about the Jazz organization. For me it is an NBA championship or bust. I could care less about making the playoffs if they Jazz don't actually have a chance to compete for a championship. Jazz are not going to beat OKC or Miami or Chicago (with DR) so let these guys pound each other for the next couple of years while the Jazz obtain as much talent as possible and then develop their players. In three years the Jazz would be legitimate contenders simply because the Lakers, Mavs, and Spurs would be rebuilding. I personally think the AJ move was a panic move because the Jazz lost Boozer and Okur (injury). They wanted to send a message to DW that they were trying but soon realized that the Jazz hadn't improved and the possibility of DW leaving increased so they did the trade.

You were really sucky when you first started posting, then you got a lot less sucky, now you are suckig again.

It was a different time when we traded for Big Al. Boozer had just left as a free agent. Deron might be staying and he might be leaving. By getting big Al right then made us a playoff team. But then the Deron situation did work out and we traded him.

I for one enjoy the fact that our team is always trying to win and make the playoffs. That sort of reputation is a good thing.

Yeah, it was crazy of KOC to think that a top 5 PG and one of the best big man HC ever would help Al Jefferson. Too bad Jefferson came in when Dwill/Sloan synced their cycles up and exploded on the franchise.

Ya it was foolish.

You cant change a man's heart. Every time I see Al trot up and down the court and not chase down a block, or help out on defense, or fight for a loose ball, I think that man has no heart. KOC should have been very cautious about that. ESPECIALLY because we just got done going through the same thing with Boozer. Did he really think he could change Al right after realizing he couldnt change Boozer? I mean, talk about not learning from your mistakes and letting history repeat its self. And Ill take it a step further, Okur was the same way. All three of those players conserve(d) their energy for their shooting. Its so annoying. All of them would talk a big game about how the want to win a championship, but werent willing to fight for it.

I dunno, I guess its just me. I cant stand players who play like that. Its complete hypocrisy to say you want to win, but wont try on the defensive end. To me that just says you are only out to score and get your stats.

You will never win when one of your main guys plays like that. I guarantee it. Just look at the difference between Melo, Lebron, and Wade. Melo cant figure out why he cant win and its because he is all about scoring. Lebron and Wade give it everything they got on both ends. Now those two really want to win. And they do win.

Its ****ing retarded to get someone who wont play D. Good luck winning a championship like that. But I guess you guys are all so right. Look at all the championships Boozer, Okur, jefferson, and KOC have won combined. Zero

I think at least 75% of the board, including myself, wants Jefferson traded. While we have him on the team, we have to play him though. He is our best shot at beating the Spurs and we have to keep his trade value as high as possible. Benching him in the playoffs isn't a great sign to potential Big Al suitors.

but you can help Jefferson by pulling him for a few minutes to send a message. He's doing plenty to hurt himself in this series; Ty needs to communicate the importance of his 110% effort.

Is now the time to be playing people just because we want to pump up there value? I don't think so. Now is the time to win. What kind of mixed message is that? We aren't willing to tank the regular season, but we are willing to tank the playoffs. lmao. huh?

I never said he shouldn't play in this series. I said we shold have never traded for him at all. I agree we could use him right now, but just not that much of him. He would be nice off the bench. Or just less minutes.

He isn't being played because they are trying to pump up his value anyways. Corbin and KOC really feel he is a big part of this team. Look at how the situation was handled at the begining of the season. Corbin chose Millsap over Jefferson to be benched in favor of Favors starting. What does that say? I don't think he is going any where. I think we are witnessing the Jazz make the same mistake we did with Boozer. I say no way he get's traded. We will see his contract expire. I don't think they would re-sign him but you never know. We have another year of this I believe. The only thing I see happening that makes this better is if they go with the big 3 line up. I think that line up can work. But the Jazz can never seem to get out of their own way. They won't give it a legit shot.

I know I sound pretty down on the Jazz all the time. But I am not. I just have to call it like I see it. KOC is ok. Just ok. That's it. Not great. So there are legit things to bitch about I think. Overall I am high on this team though. I am excited about what we got, I just don't want to see us come up short again. But it could happen if KOC doesnt handle this Favors Jefferson Millsap situation right. He needs to be proactive and not play it too conservative
