Are We Going to See Some Buyouts?

With the signings of some NBA vets in the last couple of days, could it be possible that one or more of our Golden State acquisitions will be waived and bought out? I'm not sure why these guys would have come to Utah in the first place unless there was a chance to make the regular season roster.

Highly unlikely. I think they let them ride the pine and don't even call them back at the end of the season. The FO will probably have their lockers cleaned out for them during the last game.

I would think they would let them hang with the team all year just in case some crazy team would rather get rid of a young and talented player that we could use because they want cap space next year.

I agree we will keep them all year, and wave goodbye after the season so we can enjoy our own cap space for extensions, free agents, and picks.

Start from the top Rush might be a keeper. If he gets back even close to where he was then he would be a great trade chip come trade deadline.

Jefferson if he can play decently might be a trade option for a playoff team off the bench. This is what i am hoping for.

Biedrins is garbage and should be bought out.

I agree that Rush might be a keeper, I hope he's solid.

There is little plus to buy out Beans at this point, unless we have so many good players we have to make room for one more, but that is not the case. We can't use his expiring contract as bait or a tool for a team trying to clear room for the draft or FA market next year. In the small chance there is a decent player in that scenario, we might need Beans contract. I don't see the point in a buyout.

Agree. Rush, Jefferson and Williams may all have trade value as players. Biedrins has value as an expiring contract. Can possibly trade Andris for a veteran with another year left on his contract PLUS a draft pick from a team wanting/needing to dump salary. Jazz will have room to do a couple of those deals, even factoring in the extensions for Hayward and Favors and addition of two 1st rounders. The 4 players mentioned all have different price points + Jazz have other replaceable players (Lucas, Clark, etc.) to throw in as needed to match salaries.

Not sure why but I'm not excited for Rush at all.

I can't figure out why Biedrins would even be with the team to be honest. The guy appears to be bringing absolutely no redeeming qualities to the team. But I guess we'll see. I'd rather have a Collins Twin and no I'm not joking.

He played well in our Warriors series in 2007.

Maybe he just needs to get out of retarded warriors small ball.

It'd be really nice if he could at least give us a decent 10 minutes a game.

I'm the opposite but perhaps I'm just optimistic. He's a good defender who can hit a 3 well. Though that's what was said about Roger so perhaps that should hasten my optimism. Still, guys like that who are solid are much needed on the bench of a good team.

He does have some great numbers vs. Tim Duncan back when he was in the Warrior's rotation.

no he is teh god of basketball.

He cames to my house 2 days ago. I gave him my special talents.

He will average 10pts 15 rebs just in 12 minutes. he is teh boss.

Retarded Warriors small ball is what made him look decent in the first place (he never had to share rebounds with a teammate, he had infinite spacing, he was the only rim protector so he was the only one in a position to amass blocks). He got his money, and that seems purely to be/have been his motivation.

Besides, his being a decent player shouldn't really be the primary objective for this team anyway. The Jazz should be looking for a savvy veteran that will show up, work hard, mentor, and otherwise be a good soldier. That's what you hope for from a rental that has no place on this team in the future.

Rush has value because he fit the large wing model. He can shoot and defend and rebound.

Jefferson might still have those qualities. Especially in a contact year.

Biederns has the size and athletic ability to be a rotation big. He seems to have stoner hands and a fragile psyche.

None of these players will get cut. I also expect they will all play as well.
