Article - mock draft SB Nation - Jazz makes trade and selects..

We trade Hayward to the Thunder? Why do we want to give them a Championship? Is this to apologize to them for fooling them into Kanter?

I was thinking about something similar earlier today. Too bad it will never happen now because it was published on SB Nation.

On today's Locked on NBA podcast Chad Ford said all picks between 3 and 8 are available because each of those teams want to improve now. With that many interested sellers I believe it could create a buyers market. I wonder if Lindsey has any desire to do a soft reboot of his rebuilding project.

I couldn't figure it out either, but rather than admit it and look stupid, I thought I'd let someone else say it first.

I hope we pursue with vigor.
I love drama.

From the 1 PM article:

The Celtics acquired Jazz forward Gordon Hayward and cash. The Suns acquire the rights to the #3 pick. The Jazz get the rights to the #4, #23 and #28 pick alongside Jonas Jerebko's non-guaranteed deal.

I'd do that trade. Of course, my track record kinda sucks but if there are doubts about re-signing Hayward might as well pull the tigger on a high draft pick.

There are a few problems with this deal, obvi, but the biggest one is that all these picks come in the same year. Gotta spread that out.

the second big problem would be at SF. Who plays there? a FA? Could Murray, Exum, and Hood play some minutes together eventually?

It's not that I disagree, but the problem with this rationale is that we will be repeating it for every player on our team in the coming years. At what point do we actually build a contender?

I would not give up Hayward for the #3 pick in a 2 deep draft. Now, if you did Hayward for the 2017 Brooklyn pick and the 16th pick in the 2016 draft... I may be tempted to do it. We would then trade the #12 for Danny Green to the Spurs and wait for the #16 low pressure magic. We are worse this year and get a top 5 pick next year along with our guy.
