Around 51:40 Hardy gives a very plausible explanation on why we held on to and played Rudy Gay last year. He told about his previous relationship with Rudy in SA, and that Rudy was really helpful in doing sanity checks on what Hardy wanted to run and communicating stuff to the team, and also that Rudy was honest to him and gave him feedback.

So seems like Rudy was the floor general and Hardy's right hand guy with the 2nd unit. Lineup data also supports that, since if you look at Gay's "minutes per game" for 2 man lineups you can see that Conley is 3rd last in that list. So essentially Hardy didnt overlap their minutes much at all. The only guys lower on that list were KO, who he obviously often substituted for, and JTA who didnt play much at all with us.

I like how the guy said that the jazz players are allowing Hard Willy to cook. No bitching about minutes or role or scheme. The players are all easy to coach. I also liked how the dude said that Hard Willy is on his way to being one of the best coaches on the league.
