What's new

Biyombo

I'd give him 4 years, 15 million easy. Having a backup center who can play elite defense is worth it, especially if Rudy or Favors goes down for an extended period of time

What a bizarre topic! Color me confused about this one, people are hella finicky about these draft picks but want to sign Bismack Biyombo... Is he really 22 anyway??

If we need a backup center, might as well get one who has an elite skill. Would rather try out Pleiss, though.

Better than I expected

Does it really matter if he is 22?

I don't think the point of signing him would be hoping he develops into a starting big. We would just want him to be a 10-15 mpg backup center who plays defense, which he already does. So even if he was 28, I would still want to sign him for the same amount and expect the same things.

Like I said, if we don't sign Pleiss and Biyombo is cheap, it's a good pickup.

Robert Upshaw can do most everything Biyombo can at this stage, and for a tenth of the salary. I don't get this idea, Bismack is exceptionally limited!

With bigs it's even more important to check in on how they progress. If his age is botched chances are his offense and FT shooting are damned to futility.

If he is 22, he hasn't been progressing well at all...

So I guess If he's really cheap I could understand, can't condone this though. It's a novel idea to pay him because he's a serviceable 3rd big, he's gonna want to get paid because he's serviceable, and young - which isn't something worth paying a premium for, IMO.

Makes more sense to pay Koufos, than give Biyombo 50%-70% of what he'd cost, IMO.

Upshaw is also a locker-room cancer and has heart issue...

I thought there were doubts about biyombos age. Like he might be much older, that was why he looked good in the Nike Hoop Sucker Game.

Irregardless, the Jazz have better options.
