Don't forget, some of those teams will be signing major FA's. CP3 is signing his max deal. Clippers will add players to contend. Dallas will go on a shopping spree. They need to add pieces around Dirk for the next couple of years. And where will Dwight go? Good chance he DOESN'T remain in LA. Lakers will be over the cap even if he leaves. Team that signs him will use up their space. Stay patient, grasshopper. There will be 2-3 teams with cap space at the deadline, but likely none with as much as Utah.

Lindsey said something intersting a few weeks ago, that did not make sense at the time. Today it makes makes much more sense and because of that the Jazz's plan just became much clearer.
Parapharasing from memory: There may be more teams to spend more money on fewer quality FA's this off-season. we may choose to save it for next off season.

Add to that Houston is going to spend as their GM is rather unabashed about making a splash. Philly is probably going to drop a dime as well.
Long story short, Lindsay is genre savvy enough to know how this will play out. There is a big, ugly monster with the revamped Luxury Tax coming soon and the Jazz, on paper, already have their core players set. There really is nothing more that needs to be done at this time except to fill out the roster and be patient.
About the deadline, there will be teams that will be out of position for the playoffs and need to unload. The Jazz will be about the only team that can eat those contracts, for a massive price. As much as Jazz fans have grown to hate that "be patient" mantra, those who know understand it is meaningful this time.
You think Philly traded an All Star point guard for a kid who won't play next season and a 2014 draft pick for anything but tanking? I don't.

What you're all missing is that KOC isn't the only GM to hold cap space for moves. Charlotte, for example, will have gazillions in cap room this and next summer.
If the entire goal is to play a "core" in hopes that "core" sucks enough to land Wiggins, but then somehow not suck after.... Well, good luck out sucking Charlotte etc. next year. That's as bad a game plan as you can write.
Houston is waiving Delfino and Aaron Brooks. They still want to trade Thomas Robinson to clear space for Dwight.
I'd take a look at Delfino and Robinson. I don't know why no one took Robinson for a pick during the draft.
