The Nuggets look like a deeper team than they were after the trade:

C Nene/Mozgov
PF Martin/Andersen
SF Chandler/Gallinari
SG Afflalo/Smith
PG Felton/Lawson

But are they better? Will this help the Jazz or hurt our chance of making the playoffs? Weigh in.

Forgot about Al Harrington...

C Nene/Mozgov/Andersen
PF Martin/Harrington
SF Chandler/Gallinari
SG Afflalo/Smith
PG Felton/Lawson

I think it helps the Denver chemistry since the unknown of who would go and when is over...or will be in a couple days. However, if this is going to help Denver, I don't think it will be this year. It's just too short of a time frame for the new players to mesh.

Although I really don't like Crymelo as a player (takes too many shots, makes defense pretty easy for the other team, doesn't play defense), they also lost Chauncey who was probably their most effective 2-way player. Looking down that roster, nobody pops out as a leader on that team, whatsoever. Nuggets are in rebuilding mode. It's hard to be afraid of a team that is rebuilding.

They instantly turned themselves into a rebuilding team instead of a trying to contend team. I say this hurts them now, maybe in 2-3 years it will help them though, I mean they did get a few good up and coming players.

According to ESPN, Denver is looking to trade Gallinari right after they get him in the trade. What would it take for Utah to get him?

how about AK's expiring and whatever else it'd take to make it work

I can't believe NY gave up the Russian center too. I think the trade helps Denver's depth but losing a superstar really hurts a franchise. I really don't think NY is that much better. How is Carmelo going to replace all the production the Knicks lost? Since this is a team game I think Denver is better in the long run.

As far as trading AK, go for it we need a 3 pt shooter. I would love it if the Jazz could get Nene in the trade. I know I am dreaming.

i didnt vote but i think this trade is BAD for the chance in re-signing Deron.
im so disgusted in the media & other teams fans when they talk about 2012.

All-Stars rule this league. Denver now has none. They are now a lesser team. JVG said something this morning that I agree with: "Denver will spend the next decade trying to get back what they just lost, just like Cleveland" (Something close to that).

How can you say this is bad for Denver? They were going to lose carmelo anyways in a few months and they ended up landing a lot of good players.

They were probably going to lose him for nothing this offseason if they didn't trade him. On top of that I think Carmelo is overrated and always has been, the Nuggets got Thunder-esque assets in this deal and if they're lucky and/or smart about it can make the Nuggets better than they were in a matter of years.

Since the Jazz aren't getting a significantly better roster anytime soon and aren't good enough to contend now, this is a wash for the Jazz at best.

The NBA is a league with a handful of super teams against the Washington Generals....The Jazz should change their name to the Generals

Since I think this draft will suck and want the Jazz to do better right now for a million reasons, I guess this is good in that respect.

Call me crazy, but I think this hurts the Knicks.

Melo is a ball hog.
Melo and Amare don't seem like a match made in heaven. Neither creates. Both are black holes who finish inside.
The Knicks give up their outside shooters and fast PG. Teams can now park inside the lane and take charges as Melo and Amare try and dunk everything.
Amare is nearly useless without a good PG that can create. Felton is a better PG right now than Billups. Felton averages more points, rebounds, and nearly doubles Billups assists. He's younger, faster, and fits perfectly into the D-Antoni mold. Billups is more of a slow down run the offense PG.

I think this improves the Nuggets.
They get rid of their cancer.
They bring a ton of outside shooting power.
Get draft picks and cash.
Rebuilding could have a been a lot harder had Melo just taken off during the summer. At least they got something in return

I'm not sure if this effects the Jazz much. So I guess I'll put hurt....

You needed a "neither helped nor hurt" option. This doesn't really open the door to any big trades, especially since the Jazz don't do that mid-season really, other than minor swaps of role players now and then, with the notable exception of the Hornacek trade what 15 years ago?

But mostly I think we have too many things to get right in our own house for a trade involving a division rival to help us very much. Sure I think Denver got a little weaker and will take a while to get it together but we have too many problems of our own to really capitalize on anything like that.
