I hope the Jazz DO NOT make the playoffs this year. There are some really nice pieces, but I would love for Utah to get a top 3 pick. IF we make the playoffs, then we are doomed to the last bajillion years of Jazz basketball (sans two years). We are stuck in the middle. We have an opportunity to get one more young player, and then this team should be set to dominate (or KOC is gone).

The Jazz get Golden State's lottery pick this year. We just got a top 3 pick in this year's draft (Enes Kanter) to go along with Favors and Hayward in last year's draft.

I'm not sold on Favors or Kanter. I think Favors will become a very good basketball player, but I don't know if he can lead us to the promised land. Heck, even Dwight Howard isn't winning tittles in Orlando. Shaq didn't win titles until he was paired with Kobe. We don't have our Kobe. A top three pick in the year's draft could very well be our Kobe. That is who we need, and the only way to get him is to lose. We have a lot of young talent, adding another top 3 pick could take us from a solid, 4-6 seed team to a contender. We need one more losing season.

I'd love to have Burks and Millsap come off the bench. A lot of teams have their fifth "starter" only play nominal minutes and not have that much of an offensive role. There are only so many shots to go around. Jefferson, Hayward, Harris are all scorers. Favors will get touches around the basket. On the 2nd unit, Watson is not a scorer. So put him in with Burks and Millsap. Millsap was dominant around the basket when he was a sub. IMO, he'd benefit the Jazz best by going back to that role. And he'd be a primary option on offense, not having to compete with the other starters for touches.

We don't necessarily need a "Kobe." In fact, Deron was pretty close to that level the last couple of years; always needing the ball and the attention.

Any of our first rounders could turn into an all-star (or close to it): Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks. I guess if "promised land" = championship, then consider Malone and Stockton to have just been very good, but not great. If I were a betting man, I might wager that we'll not see a pick next season. Jazz have a lot of youth, but need experience. And they'll have some financial flexibility with Okur's salary coming off the books. Wouldn't surprise me to see KOC make a deadline deal with the expirings of Okur, CJ and pick(s) to acquire an established wing. We'd then have a very good rotation at the 4/5 and at the 2/3, with just the PG slot to consider. And if Kanter develops, one of the bigs could be traded.
