Could The Utes Possibly Have A Basketball Program Again?

Hard not to be excited with how coach K has been seemingly able to turn things around after the disaster he inherited.

Next year is the year im eyeing, but hopefully we can keep improving this year and play spoiler in the PAC 12 down the stretch

We've played 3 close games against some of the better teams in in the Pac-12. I'm excited, however, we have to finish these close games. Our offense still struggles. I do LOVE what Utah has been able to do on the defensive end. Hopefully, we get our first win on Saturday against USC. So far, I can SEE improvement on the floor... so I am extremely hopeful.

Even before I made this thread, I knew some assclowns would come in and take their usual potshots. The thread was built more in the spirit of Ute fans discussing the fact that the program is finally trending in the right direction once again. I figured the village idiot wouldn't be able to help himself, and once again Conan didn't let me down.

There are about 5-6 guys at SLCC right now that are D-1 talents too that could take the talent level at Utah up pretty quickly. That doesn't necessarily mean they would end up at Utah or that Utah wants them, but you have to think they would have a nice shot if they were interested. Ty Corbin's kid is there, Gary Payton's kid is there, a former Utah State player that is going for about 20 game/ is there, JuWan Buchanan, Sai Tummala.

I thought Ty's kid went somewhere in Cali, like Long Beach State or something?

I really enjoy watching this team fight - they are under matched against most teams in talent, but seem to really play together and work within their skill set and system Larry has set up. Most of all, I like their composure considering their inexperience. Hopefully they find an outside threat to start winning some of these close ones.

Any details on the recruits for next year?

Little bro so sensitive. Thanks for not letting me down.

Other end of the state. UC Davis, right outside of Sacramento. I don't know what happened there. He's probably the worst prospect of the bunch , but he still would be a great backup point guard at any of the schools in Utah. He did pick UC Davis over the U of U once already though.

Yeah, I was just trying to figure out why. Because if the answer is that he couldn't hang with the talent at UC Davis, that's probably not a great sign. Though, I don't think that's it. He's a good player.

Speaking of recruiting, how can guy like this:

Lead the country in scoring at 40 pts/game and not have a scholly offer?

If I was a college coach and you put 40/game on your church ball team, I would offer you a scholarship. Average ballers do not drop 40/game on anybody.

I dropped 31 points in Intramural's once.

Head Basketball coach offered me a scholarship, which I gladly took.

I am guessing he wanted to return home, but you'd think Utah, Weber, Utah State, etc. would have looked at him as well. I would assume he is at SLCC to stay.

Edit: Left because the team wasn't winning and had a complacent attitude toward losing. Also sounds like he transferred to a JC so he could play right away rather than sitting out a year - then after one year he could transfer and start the recruiting process all over again. Who is coaching this kid on his decisions? (I kid, I kid) Should have gone to Utah in the first place.
