Yeah. I do. My wife missed out on 3 months of checks. They will supposedly be processed within the next 6 to 8 weeks, or so we are told. Merry Christmas!

Glad you guys are all back to work and glad this is all over...until the next manufactured crisis.

6-8 weeks? Insanity.

Yeah they got behind on processing checks for contractors so she has August and September outstanding, then this **** happened, so they put everything on hold. Now she is getting ready to submit for October and we just got a notice that due to the backlog it will be 6-8 weeks minimum until checks are cut. If they follow their previous pattern we will get August in the "6-8 weeks", September 2-4 weeks after that, and October 2-4 weeks after that. Since you know they can't process all the invoices for one person at once, it has to be done by date. Yay.

It's already built in - Jan 15 is it? Or is it Feb 15? Or is one for the budget (govt shutdown) and one for the debt limit?

All they did was kick the can.

It is both. The continuing resolution that reopened the government expires on 01/15/14 and the debt ceiling expires on either 02/07/14 or 02/15/14 (cannot remember which).

Literally all they did was kick the can. Each time it gets a little worse...

Not true. They set up Simpson-Bowles 2.0. They kicked the can and set the play to reenact.

To be fair, they are doing what needs to be done to prep the populace for sweeping overhauls. I may not like the process but I tend to like the results.

Depending on what the overhauls are I may or may not be on board.

Hate away, with a good buzz...

Not I.

You may have missed a peculiarity of the federal worker's situation. They were a hated lot until they were all fired, at which point both parties and their outspoken constituents began tripping over themselves to save them from the plight that many were wishing upon them the very day prior. So they go on and "rescue" them and all, at which point everyone turned the hate switch right back on as well as loatting them over backpay for missed paychecks that they had all just been using as a political crutch.

Congrats on getting back to work. Nothing like realizing those days of potential output that you will never get back as a result of a furlough or laying off.

Some of us were not furloughed. I had to report to work every weekday of the shutdown. I am only getting paid what I am owed for having worked.
