Team Thee jazz fan:

C - DeMarcus Cousins / Nerlens Noel

Eminence's Case:

General thoughts on my team: Wes will likely take a step back from his injury, but I don’t think it will hurt his shooting or ball movement skills too much which is what I drafted him for. Leonard/Barnes/Henson are all young, and I expect both Barnes and Leonard to continue to see more chances and improve this season. Nobody so old as to expect anybody to fall off a cliff.

The main philosophy for Team Eminence is good ball movement combined with good spacing. For this matchup our main bench guys will be Matthews/Leonard/Russell, with Henson and Brewer not seeing much of the court.

Offense obviously based around Curry outside with Millsap/Horford doing work down low. Going through my main offensive options:

Horford- Cousins is a good defender, but Horford is a talented from the mid-range and a good passer who will keep the offense flowing and pull Cousins away from the rim.

Millsap- Will see a lot of offensive action in this matchup vs Anderson or Noel. If Anderson is in Millsap should really do work. If Noel is in with Cousins then the best option will be to lean on Curry on offense and to attack on defense by doubling down on Cousins off Noel.

Curry- Wall is another good defender, but his athleticism is his strong point, and Curry’s shooting should pull him out and limit Wall’s effectiveness.

Bench- Russell/Matthews/Leonard provide a lot of shooting of the bench, with good ball movement we will get buckets off the bench.

Going over his main offensive options and how we will defend them:

Wall- Allen and Curry will be switching men, so Allen will be on Wall and Curry will be on Redick. As went over in the last round Allen is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and will really slow Wall down as he’s done to superstars in the past (KD/Curry in the playoffs)

Redick- Curry on Redick is a great matchup, as Curry is a smart defender who can be attacked off the dribble. Redicks strengths offensively fall right into Curry’s defensive strengths.

Cousins- Cousins will be the largest problem for us defensively, when Noel is in the plan will be to provide extra help, but otherwise Horford will be mostly on his own.

Bench- He has some good scoring options on the bench, I imagine our benches will mostly trade buckets back and forth.

Overall summary: Cousins is a big matchup problem for my team, and I think that will force the series to 7. From the other side I don’t think he has great options to cover both of my low-post threats at the same time along with Curry’s otherworldly gravitational pull. At the end of the day I think Curry’s experience deep in the playoffs as a team leader will allow us to pull it out. 4-3 Team Eminence.

Thee jazz fan's case:

Team Philosophy.

I plan on attacking Horford with Cousins. I don't believe Horford can handle Cousins bully ball in the paint. Eminence's team will either get utterly destroyed in the paint if he doesn't double down or Anderson, Redick, and Carroll will have open 3 after 3 after 3. That will spell disaster for Eminence and his team. Eminence will have to deal with plenty of half court sets including pick'n roll and pop (Anderson).

Curry won't be able to keep Wall in front of him. This will result in a lot of easy dunks for Cousins as well as drive and kick outs to my three point shooters.

Bench Philosophy.

As the starters will play and dominate in the half court offense, my bench will be a change of pace unit, as I have some long athletic players at every position and play great defense. My bench is by far the stronger more deeper bench and at this point my team will gain the upper hand.

Knight will be pitted against the rookie Russell who proved to be a turnover machine in SL. My bench is quick and athletic and will be able to take the rookie out of his game.

Another problem for Eminence's backups will be a lack of offense for Eminence's bench, as my bench is a good offensive team and very good defensively. COMPLETE MISMATCH. This will cause the starters for Eminence to play more mins causing more open looks from three for my elite shooters

CONCLUSION.

Cousins, my elite 3pt shooting and my bench will be too much for Eminence's team

Thee has a much stronger bench. Starters are close, with each team having some advantages at some spots and disadvantages at others.

Eminence assumes Noel will play with Cousins. Not true, as I view them as a bad fit together. It will either be Young or Anderson in with Noel. I view Noel as strictly a Center as far as his skill set goes. He would just get in Cousins way clogging the paint. Also. His bench will not be able to trade buckets with my bench. It is the far far superior unit, and all things considered, think I'll go on several runs when these second units are in the game.
