DLeague Pineriders

I'm wondering what the front office's philosophy is of recalling guys from the DLeague and then just watching them gather splinters and eventually turn to ashes. In past years we've had guys called up and get no minutes and it's happening this year with Murry and Christopher. How do we know these guys can play or not unless they get a chance? Travis Leslie and Jerrel McNeal were a couple of guys that got no minutes whatsover. Plus these guys have the experience of closing games granted at the minor leagues. I noticed at interesting stat that Christopher was last year's DLeague best free throw shooter at 88% and an interesting name has crept up among the leaders this year Jordan Hamilton who was with the Jazz for awhile and got sent packing. Junior Stockton is 2nd in assists and fifth in steals and Murph is 4th in scoring. It's obvious this staff and front office don't consider him a prospect given when they cut him in camp only after 1 preseason game. Also this staff really never gave Cooley or Motum any run at all in the preseason games. It just seems we need some fire power from the back up 3 sport. Right now Qunicy Miller is the No. 1 propsect according to the NBA.com website and he is a 3.

There is this thing called practice. Teams do it to evaluate who should get into the games.

What a novel idea!

And the fact no other teams have snatched up players like those mentioned above is telling. The D-League is full of tweeners and players who can't/won't play defense. If all the Jazz needed were a player to hit shots, Novak would be getting minutes.

actually Reno has 2 players I like miller and heslip, but as it has been mentioned neither can play defense.

Miller's name came up on this board when Denver waived him but no one was jumping on board. Heslip is a midget. Kind of like Ian.

Last night Quincy Miller had 32 points and 9 rebounds. David Stockton had 32 points and 9 assists. Slim Bhullar for Reno had 4 blocks and lead the DLeague in blocked shots. Somehow Stockton to Bhullar doesn't quite have the ring of Stockton to Malone.
