Drones

I have a new neighbor that just moved in across the street. They have a drone. I first noticed it about a week ago. The high pitched buzzing noise as it zooms around. The first time I heard and realized what it was I was a little intrigued. That said, it spent about 30 minutes that first night what seemed like pretty much over my house. At first I thought it might be our insurance company looking at the condition of the roof or something like that. When I realized that it was the new neighbor it pissed me off. I felt like my privacy was being invaded. I actually went accross the street and asked that he not hover it over my house. I could understand it just flying over but when it sits and lingers I feel like you are intetionally trying to see what is in my backyard. He pretty much told me that it was perfectly legal and he would fly his drone whereever he wants to. Now it seems every night about this time I hear it in the air. I have seriously contemplated getting my shotgun and shooting it down. Not sure what the legal actions I can take to stop this or what the legal ramifications are of shooting down a drone over my yard but I am done with it.

Ugh. We had one come over our backyard a couple months ago. It clipped our chimney and crashed into the front yard. I looked into the lot behind our yard and saw a man with an iPad, walking away. I saw him walk toward a car. I went to the front yard and saw the drone face down. I contemplated smashing it with a baseball bat and saying “Oh it really clipped my chimney pretty hard, I guess.” Or just smashing it and walking away. But it had cameras and I assume had I done that it would’ve recorded said action and the cops may have gotten involved which is ********. In any case, a few minutes later the guy came driving onto my street looking for it. He actually passed it somehow and stopped his car. I had gotten a chair and was sitting in my driveway by this point. He stopped his car, started to approach me and I simply pointed to where it was and told him I didn’t want it over my property again and he was quite apologetic.

So yeah, drones suck. And it doesn’t surprise me one bit that he was apologetic and that your neighbor out there said he’s allowed. He’s likely an ******* who also went around saying he doesn’t have to wear a mask.

The FAA classifies it as an aircraft, and it's illegal to shoot down an aircraft.

You could likely sue your neighbor based on privacy concerns. You might get lucky and get a judge who sees it your way, but there's nothing specifically in the statutes about it, as far as I know.

Also, I did look up NJ laws on this and there are two things an owner must do to fly it. One is to pay a certain amount to get it registered with the state or town or some ****. I forget the other. I’d guess most people don’t do that ****. Maybe you could pursue **** that way? Or maybe you could have a catch with your son and knock it out of the air. I ****ing hate those things. No way to know if some dude is taking pics of your kids or casing your home. Honestly it might be worth it if you see the thing to rush inside, put on jeans and a white t-shirt with a ski mask, and smash the thing. Then go back inside and hide the ski mask and change your clothes. I can’t imagine the cops would put any effort into “the case.” I guess the question can the guy kick the **** out of you? I’m guessing no.

Also, maybe use a slingshot from afar?

The search I used was “can you use any electronic devise to disable drones?” There were other returns, I just picked the above two.....

Smash the hell out of it and tell them to sucl your nuts. All is fair in drone war.

Don't worry, nobody wants to video you or anyone in your house.
I tend to agree
However if I were inclined to criminal activity, burglary specifically, using a drone to see what kind of merchandise someone owns while at the same time looking into their security system could be beneficial.
