Earl Watson on whether he knew Kevin Durant would be this good when the two played together Durant’s rookie year: I didn’t know, because the physicality of the game was a little too much for him. There was times when he would dribble, and just fall down. He was like a little kid learning to walk. And there was times where he couldn’t get open ’cause guys was denying him.

I remember playing a game against Raja…Durant didn’t touch the ball the entire game. I looked at Raja and started laughing, and Raja kind of winked at me…He just wasn’t strong enough, so I seen the growth and he’s been amazing. (1)

** Watson: My goal is to stay in Utah as long as possible and retire as a Utah Jazz basketball player. Growing up, Utah was always one of my favorite teams with Coach Sloan; John Stockton, who I admire. He said my name on TV [when John attended the SAS game on 4/9] and I tweeted it. I was like, “He knows me!” I knew he knew me because I played against him, but it’s like John Stockton. It’s amazing…

Within five years, hopefully we’re putting up a banner at EnergySolutions, Gordon Hayward’s the MVP, and I’m the old guy on the team that came in and spelled them for a couple of minutes. Ten years from now, I obviously want to coach and stay involved with the game ’cause I love it, whether it’s in the NBA or college. Only God really knows my true path and avenue, so hopefully it’s somewhere where I can influence and help kids. (1)

** Watson: I would have loved to play longer for Jerry Sloan. That’s my only regret in basketball, that I wasn’t alive quick enough to play for he and Coach Hubie Brown. To me, they’re two great people and they teach you a lot about life and basketball, and most importantly how to be a man. (1)

** Watson: Think about the old Jazz teams with Malone and Stockton. They were not nice guys. They would beat you up, and beat you, and then shake your hand after the game, and that’s what we have to get to as a young team. (1)

Huh. Quite a different tone from "Im gonna have to go talk to my agent, its a shame that this lineup change happened after free agency".

You can tell Earl Watson reads Jazzfanz because he says everything your average Jazzfanz poster wants to hear (Act tough, loyalty, Hayward is God, Respect Jazz history).

I like Watson. He'll probably become the 3rd PG, but if he doesn't have a problem with that, then he can stay as long as he'd like, IMO

Gotta love the Hayward props! Keep him around if he wants to stay and play minimum minutes. About 40 games ago everyone wanted him starting, then Tinsley was the answer, then Harris is awesome, now everyone sucks. I think he's great as the 2nd or 3rd PG, 10 min a game or so, just put him in with Evans ;) I would love to keep Bell around this next year too if he had this attitude.

wtf this guy complained about minutes. jazz where on a rolll until e started cimplaining about his minutes. he got HIS minutes byt jazz, THE TEAM, stared sucking.
only way he may retire as a jazzman is if he retires this season

Does anyone expect anything else from an over the hill player who just experienced a fairly major injury involving knee surgery.

Gotta protect his stock somehow.

Does a meniscus count as "major surgery"?

you all need to lay off Earl. All this hate makes him seem more consequential than he is. He'll likely be back next year.

If you need something to hate, there is a 6'10'' piece of swiss cheese anchoring our defense that isn't receiving enough scrutiny, IMO.

I would assume (and I could be wrong) that any surgery on a knee, particularly in a sport that requires constant jumping and weaving at high speeds, a major ordeal, not to mention when it is involved with someone on the wrong side of 30.

That being said, he is obviously an intelligent man, and if he can keep his attitude in check, would be a welcomed and valuable mentor to the young point guard I hope management brings in. 10-15 mins a game for him would be ideal, enough time to bring some energy to the floor, but any more and his flaws show.

and I agree at this point, even after defending him all season, I now truly see how Jefferson's exit would be a welcomed change.

"...I really like you. There's no chance we could ever be together?"

"Only if you'll promise me you'll never die."

"You know I can't promise that."

"If you did that I would make love to you right now."

" I PROMISE YOU I WILL NEVER DIE."

I was going to post the video, but they all contained the hardcore scene right after. Anyway, guys telling people what they want to hear in order to get what they want...happens all the time.

Kanter's Turkish, not Swiss.
